Discuss; Can Gaga be Gal?

In the August issue of Ageha, models Sakurina & Megu Fujigamori were transformed into ‘gal versions’ of Twiggy & Lady Gaga (which some of you may have seen on my tumblr). Alongside these were tutorials on how to re-create the look
I love it when Ageha does these, although they usually choose Japanese celebrities or fictional characters, so I thought this was a great topic for a discussion post

So what do you think? Can you gal-ise (new term?! haha) iconic people such as Twiggy and Gaga, and do you think these are the kind of looks you would want to do yourselves

Honestly in my opinion, it all seems like a bit of fun, but whichever way you look at it you gotta admit that both gals are lookin’ mighty fierce

Review; Naked Palette

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

It’s been a long time coming, but I finally purchased the ‘Urban Decay Naked Palette’ on my way back from Paris

Alanna planted the seed on this one, as she so usually does with me and make-up and Firipa cemented it, after I read her posts on it. I had been looking in Sephora hoping it would be discounted in the sales, but luckily, thanks to duty free, I managed to get it for £40£26!!

As you can see this is the 12 eyeshadow set (with 5 new shades), which comes with the good karma eyeshadow brush (which is great) as opposed to the other version which has only 10 shadows but comes with the glide on eye pencil
The shades range from Virgin (nude satin) to Gunmetal (dark grey metallic) in mattes, shimmers and glitters…

 A colour for every occasion!
But it doesn’t end there, the palette also comes with…
The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion!

This is great because even though the shadows are lovely by themselves, they work even better with a primer and of course they’ll stay longer too.
Swatch Time!
…with primer

Virgin to Darkhorse
Toasted to Gunmetal

I am so impressed by the shadows in this palette. There’s something for everyone, and every occasion. Not only that but the shadows are really pigmented – the above were done with only a swipe of my finger. I’m not surprised that some people pay the full £40 for it, it’s definitely worth it
You can check out my use of half baked & smog here…and keep an eye out for more

Meet with Alanna & Toni~

Only a few days after I had arrived back from Paris I was lucky enough to meet with some of my lovely gals; Alanna & Toni – it was such a shame you couldn’t make it Gaby! These two have been good friends of mine for a long time and I always enjoy spending the day with them
Anyway, I am going to recycle some pictures from my last post as I took those pictures on the same day. Just some basic make-up shots…
I think I could have gone slightly more dramatic with my eye make-up but I still like how this look came out. I used my new Urban Decay Naked Palette, which I love~ It has everything I need, so I can see my other palettes being neglected for a while
Shirt: H&M
Trousers: H&M
Accessories: River Island & H&M
I’ve been trying out different outfits lately with these sheer trousers, and I’ve found that they work best with a simple top. Of course I am loving the peter pan collar trend as well so I made use of that
Alanna was wearing a gorgeous mustard yellow collared top from New Look, which suited her so much. Maybe if she has a code pic I can steal it from her and put it on here later And Toni was looking stunning in the dress she recently bought from Topshop – very ‘blogger style’
After lots of shopping and coffee breaks we headed to…
Henry’s for cocktails!
Reasonably priced

My first of the night was a ‘Tokyo Iced Tea’, which is one of my favourites as it’s so yummy and refreshing. It’s a variation on the ‘Long Island Ice Tea’ – the difference being that it has midori liqueur & lemonade.
Shortly followed by a peach daiquiri, which was good but a little too sweet for my liking. I usually have the banana one, but they were out of bananas Next time!!

After cocktails we headed to Wagamamas (as our usual place is moving to a new location) for dinner. I had the yasai chahan but I couldn’t finish it at all, the portion was amazing haha

I had a lovely time, thanks gals!

Review: Wing Series – Green Circle Lenses

Green OL-103 Wing Series colour contact lenses
Power/Prescription: 0.00 (plano) ~ -10.00
Lens Usage: Up to 12 months (depending on care)
Base Curve Radius: 8.6mm
Diameter: 14.00mm
Water Content: 38%

I have blue-grey eyes, so the effect may differ on those with darker eyes.

The Wing Series (by GEO) features a darker outer rim giving a larger more defined look. However it creates a more natural colour by evening out the tones.

I would recommend these lenses for those who want an enlarging effect without it being too much. I also happen to think that they work well with most gal styles as they’re so adaptable.

Now onto the pictures…
These were all taken mid-morning, in Summer lighting, without flash…

Look:
I had previously tried out the grey lenses in this series and wasn’t too happy with the look, but these were perfect for my eye colour. They blended really well and looked natural, they even enlarged my eyes a little with the dark outer edge, which is something other natural-look lenses don’t usually offer.
Feel:
These were very comfortable. I wore these for a trial when I met with some friends and it was a very hot day, and my allergies were crazy. However I had my handy eye drops with me and after a few drops the itchy/dry eyes I usually get along with allergies were gone. The lenses themselves felt great; it was like I wasn’t wearing any at all.
If it is your first time wearing lenses, take it slowly and wear them for only a few hours each day so your eyes will get used to them. I wouldn’t suggest wearing your lenses for too long unless you know it will be ok, and if they get dry just pop some contact lens-friendly eye solution in – never use water!

Thoughts:
I loved these lenses. Mukuchu know me well, I adore green lenses and these did not let me down – a perfect choice on their part. They were comfortable, looked great and were natural whilst still enlarging my eyes slightly and making them stand out. These have now replaced my old favourites!!

Inspiration; Momoko Ogihara ♥

A few people have asked me lately to make some inspirations posts, which I was excited about because I love seeing other peoples~
荻原桃子
For my first inspiration post, I’m going to feature Momoko Ogihara as I have a big girl crush on her because I’m really feeling Murua and her personal style right now
Gotta get me one of those Murua iPhone covers

I have been loving wavy hair for a couple of months and Momoko carrys it off so well…and if you want to know how she does it, check out the beast of a hair iron she uses in my latest tweet

Also love her simple up-dos & make-up

Great use of accessories & love her nails

If there’s one thing that I have been inspired by since I first began following her blog, it has to be her make-up

It’s dramatic without being too ott. I like a look that can carry from day into night and I think she usually does this pretty well. She also wears some of the best contacts out there right now, I always find myself envious of them & wanting to know which ones she’s wearing. Anyone else agree?

And of course I adore her fashion sense. I always look forward to an update on her blog with new coordinates. She always makes her outfits look so effortlessly chic/on trend. My favourites right now have to be: her use of the Murua pearl collar & what I see as her version of ‘blogger’

I know that a lot of people aren’t into Mode (in gal), which is fair enough. I personally like it as it fits my personality and lifestyle a bit more than other styles right now…and Momoko is really representin

Au Revoir~

picture not related but very yummy

Sorry for being absent for so long, it’s been almost a week – shocking~
I spent my weekend mainly visiting art museums and eating in fancy restaurants, which was a lovely way to spend my last weekend in Paris
I only have 4 days left here and although I love it, I am looking forward to being back in England

I have classes until Saturday and then I have a ‘farewell picnic’ with my teachers/classmates before I head home in the evening. I’ll also be spending my evenings going out with friends etc. so I am afraid you may have to wait a little longer for any substantial posts from me. ごめん!

I also installed a flag counter on the sidebar today. It’s super fresh though, so it looks a little bare right now but lets hope that it fills up soon! I love finding out where my readers are visiting from

Don’t forget that you can also keep updated with me on my Facebook, Twitter etc  and in the mean time…
