さよならPOPSISTER!!

Popsister has gone into ‘suspension’ with the November issue being the last
Will it return?
‘Suspension’ is usually a nice way of saying ‘finished’, but lets hope it will be revived next year!! It was personally one of my favourite magazines so I’m sad to see it go.
Should have seen it coming with the loss of Tsubasa

Thanks for all the good times~

Trend Alert: Colour Mix, Take 2!

This is more of an update on a previous trend I mentioned. This Summer we saw Gal and Western fashion magazines alike raving about their love for Colour Blocking – which made a nice change to the usual monochrome codes which are so popular in Japan.

Well Autumn is here and the colours we’re seeing pop-up aren’t quite as bright as their Summer counterparts, but colour mixing is still in and the gal magazines don’t want you to forget that!

So what colours should you be adding to your wardrobe this season?

Wine &… Beige

Wine also goes with…

Grey, Deep Green
 Deep Green (Turquoise) &… Brown

Deep Green (Turquoise) also goes with…

Orange, Black
Smokey Pink &… Black

Smokey Pink also goes with…

Red, Brown
Orange &… Navy

Orange also goes with…

Purple, Blue, Beige

Colour blocking has certainly toned it down for Autumn, with some gorgeous colours and shades making their way into the mix. Navy & Orange is a favourite of mine, along with Wine & Grey

What do you think of the toned down colour mix?
Will you be trying any of these out?

Inspiration; Seeing Red

The fabulous Rii of Utsukushii Gal made a post recently about Red Lips in Gal, which I loved. In the post she tried out red lips herself (and looked absolutely stunning whilst doing so) – she paired her look with matching make-up & a rock code.
This inspired me, because she was trying something new and it turned out great! So I thought about maybe trying it for myself – why? I have never worn red lipstick before as I’m so fair skinned, so I figured why not give it a try!
I actually think the red didn’t come out too bad haha
It certainly looked dramatic against my light skin, but I felt that was part of the look. Even so I don’t think I would wear this kind of colour without matching dramatic eyes, but it is certainly a look I will be trying again
So thank you Rii for inspiring me to try something new, and for showing us all how fabulous red lips can be in gal!
What do you think of red lipstick in gal?
Would you try it out yourself sometime?

Model Update: Gal Mamas

Amongst the requests I received in the giveaway entry form were a few people asking for more model updates, in particular Tsubasa.

Well, ask and you shall receive… so I’m going to do a quick update on Tsubasa and a couple of other gorgeous gal-mamas

Tsubasa has been doing a lot of promotion lately for Stride Stripe, the new gum by Stride that she is the face of – I’m sure most of you have seen the CM online.

She has also said “Goodbye” to Popsister (check out the Sept issue). Yep, sad but true – she will be going on to work on other ‘endeavours’ which may mean new additions to Dollywink (new products have been confirmed) & Candydoll, or even working on her music career a bit more?

It’s Tsubasa so you never know what she’ll promote/produce next…I would personally like to see a clothing line for ‘older gals’ but that’s just wishful thinking haha

Had to include a pic of her nails, love the pearls!

Maya Mori on the other hand is still going strong with JELLY.
I was so happy when she returned, as you may remember I was a bit uncertain about her future after having a child. I have to say she is looking wonderful and I’m pleased to see her working again.

Back to modelling for Prisilla wigs and a permanent feature on the Jelly Facebook page it would seem she is back and as strong as ever. She has also recorded a song for a mobile phone game released this month.

Maya Mori & Yuki Yamamoto

Maya & Yuki both released photobooks a few months ago, showing that they still have a following as gal-mamas. More pictures of the event and the covers here.
fabulous~

Which models do you want to hear more about?
Please leave a comment and I will try to include them in the next ‘model update’ post.

Review: DearLee Nail Polish

This post is sponsored by born pretty
Just a quick sponsored review today on some gorgeous nail polishes that I was recently sent by bornprettystore. They also sent me some eyelashes and deco items but I will be leaving those for a later, separate post.
baby blue & orange

Once again I am loving pastel colours, and after seeing some gorgeous blue and orange shades coming out bornprettystore were kind enough to sponsor me these two; Candy Blue & Candy Orange
First off, they may look like shatter polishes because of the lid, but they’re not – just normal polishes. So what do they look like on?

Like this!

PROS
+ Easy to apply
+ Bright, clean colours
+ Lasts a while without chipping
+ Plenty of polish in a decent sized bottle
+ Orange could also work as a nude, with fewer coats
CONS
– 2 coats are needed
Final thoughts?!
Ok, so that’s not really a con but there really isn’t anything bad to say about these polishes. I think they’re lovely and even though my pastel phases come and go I can see myself keeping these as they’re good staple colours to have.

Review: Candy Series – Grey Circle Lenses

EOS Candy Gray colour contact lenses*
Power/Prescription: 0.00 (plano) ~ -10.00
Lens Usage: Up to 12 months (depending on care)
Base Curve Radius: 8.8mm
Diameter: 14.5mm
Water Content: 38%
I have blue-grey eyes, so the effect may differ on those with darker eyes.
The Candy Series has been a popular choice in the gal and circle lens community for a long time thanks to the amazing enlarging, dolly eye effect the lenses create.
K-CircleLens were very professional and packaged the lenses really well…and inside the package I was greeted by a very cute bag.

mirror image fail
The items I received were all so cute, and I’m incredibly happy with the quality of the products I received. They also included a very handy travel case. I’ve not purchased/received one before so this was really appreciated.
Now onto the lenses…
These pictures were all taken in Autumn lighting, without flash…

without make-up

Note: I was rushed when doing this and didn’t have the time for bottom lashes, which is a shame because I think these lenses would benefit even more from wearing them. Next time!
Look:
I adore these lenses. They offer a basic enlarging effect with a simple graduated colour. The colour is simple but effective and they blended so well with my own eyes. I would love to try these out in the green and blue some time.
Feel:
These were comfortable, but not as much as some of my others. My eyes were very itchy (due to allergies) the couple of times I have worn them though so I think a lot of it could be down to that.
If it is your first time wearing lenses, take it slowly and wear them for only a few hours each day so your eyes will get used to them. I wouldn’t suggest wearing your lenses for too long unless you know it will be ok, and if they get dry just pop some contact lens-friendly eye solution in – never use water!

Thoughts:
These lenses match the rock-look I have been working into my codes lately, so I adore them. That being said I still think they would work well in sweet/agejo/mode codes etc. and I am looking forward to playing around with a new make-up style with these.
