Styling in the New Year

NY

Hat: Topshop, Sweater: Oasap*, Skirt: Topshop, Boots: Asos, Bangle: Oasap* Earrings: Regal Rose, Badge: Oasap*, Nail Polish: Barry M & Maxfactor

I don’t particularly like to do year round up posts as I don’t celebrate New Year in the proper sense.
However 2012 did see my fashion loves and hates change, as well as my own personal style.
It probably wasn’t as drastic as I imagine but it did see me write my first ‘style evolution’ post.
I guess that means it was big enough for me to notice, and maybe you guys did too.

As for the end of 2012, well that saw me going back to more simple, smart casual outfits.
That was mainly due to my new job, and it did see me leave my love of urban style behind slightly.
Even so, I still tried to mix it into my outfits whilst staying warm for Winter and unique in my own way.

I’ve had an amazing year and I’m excited to start 2013 in style!!
I hope to get back to more regular OOTD posts as well as introducing more style related items to the blog.

OOTD: Black Baroque

(Sweater: Glamorous*, Skirt: Topshop, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Belt: Primark)

I’m back, with a fabulous new baroque look!
Well not exactly, but this baroque style jumper by Glamorous is pretty fabulous (rhyme not intended).
Luckily I have free reign over what I wear to work, and this jumper and skirt combo just seemed perfect.
Smart casual is totally my thing and the gold glitter detail adds a little bit of pizazz for the Christmas season.
The jumper itself was pretty warm and soft, not itchy as I’d feared after seeing the glitter threading.
I did however pop a long sleeve top underneath as I feel the cold a bit too much, but it didn’t obstruct the silhouette.
The jersey skirt I bought from Topshop a couple of months ago has been such an investment.
It really does suit so many looks and I’m able to layer it with jumpers, dresses and tops etc.
I finished off my baroque look with my gold panther heel detail shoes from Urban Outfitters.
Unfortunately they don’t sell the black any more but they do now have black-glitter & burgundy versions.
I’ve missed doing OOTD posts, so I’m going to do a couple in a row this week!

MUA Cosmetics ‘Berry’ Haul

MUA Cosmetics Berry Themed Haul

Slowly the word ‘haul’ is growing on me, though I feel out of necessity more than love.
Anyway, I feel it suits these kind of posts where I’d just be saying ‘a bunch of stuff I bought from MUA’ instead.
Some of you may know that recently MUA hit 35,000 likes on Facebook and with every 5,000 likes they do a promotion.
This time the promotion was 35% off and free shipping – that’s absolutely amazing, right?
What did I buy?
Brow Kit
You probably noticed already that there is a general theme here. I love the current berry trend especially worn on the lips, so I choose a couple of lipsticks and glosses, as well as some nail polishes to go along with the trend. I had wanted to buy a bunch of stuff from MUA but I decided to wait until they had another promotion. I’m so glad I did because I was able to grab everything I wanted, and more! I’m really happy with all the items.
That’s £14 worth of products for only £9.10, with free shipping – bargain!

Emoda x Miranda Kerr Collaboration

Shots from Emoda’s AW2012 collaboration with Miranda Kerr
Even though I don’t have regular access to Japanese brands anymore, I’m still a fan.
In particular I love MuruaEmoda, both ‘Mode‘ brands are very reminiscent of Western brands.
Even though this may be the case I still find that they offer items in a style that you just can’t find in the UK.
Recently Emoda became the first Japanese brand to sign Miranda Kerr to their label.
Emoda felt that she embodied the ideology of the brand – ‘high sense, yet real clothes’.
I was really interested to see a Western model I like, working with a Japanese brand that I love.
I personally think she is the perfect fit for the brand and I love what they’ve done with their AW concept.
It’s a pretty big deal for her to work with Emoda and they’re delighted to have her as their A/W2012 visual model.
I am hoping that this will help shed more light on the brand, in countries outside of Japan.
Do I like the collection? – of course I do, I wouldn’t be blogging about it if I didn’t!
I love the items and the styling, not to mention the gorgeous new accessories in the AW2012 collection.
The pricing of Emoda’s items may seem high but this reflects the quality of the product you receive.
I have a few items from the brand and I am impressed. Emoda knows how to bring out items to compliment.
I couldn’t feature everything I loved but I hope I’ve given you enough info to tempt you.
Does any of the Emoda x Miranda Kerr AW2012 collection take your fancy?
For those who aren’t in Japan, you can purchase items from the A/W2012 collection on their Global store, here.

Review: Mariaveronica @ ASOS marketplace

Skull, feather and spike necklace from Maria Veronica @ ASOS Marketplace*
Recently the lovely Maria Veronica of Diamond in Rouge contacted me and asked if she could send me something.
What was that? Well she wanted to send me one of the skull & spike necklaces from her collection on ASOS Marketplace.
I was so happy because I’d been browsing her items when the store first opened, and fell in love with them!
Maria’s store currently features necklaces and bracelets.
The silver necklaces are lovely, especially the ones with turquoise accents.
The stars of the collection though have to be the spike skull feather necklaces, like the one above.
They come in 3 different colours; black, pink and blue. I personally love them all, but the black & gold suits my style best.
Unfortunately a few of the feathers fell off mine in transit, so it looks slightly different.
Everything in the collection is £10 or under – that’s an absolute bargain!
The skull necklaces, like the one I was sent, are right on trend!
So many brands are using skulls and spikes in their collections right now
I can’t wait to start coordinating mine with my winter sweaters and leather skirt.
I deliberately didn’t take a photo of me wearing this because I know you’re going to see it in tons of OOTD posts.
You can find Maria’s store on ASOS Marketplace, here.

Regal Rose Darkly Decadent Collection

A selection of items from Regal Rose’s Darkly Decadent Collection

Regal Rose are back with a new hotly anticipated collection, and they haven’t let fans down.
The ‘Darkly Decadent‘ collection mainly draws inspiration from this season’s Baroque and Gothic trends.
That doesn’t mean the items lack any originality though – as always Regal Rose have managed to create beautifully crafted, unique pieces that would easily be the highlight of anyone’s jewellery box…or outfit!
I picked my favourite pieces in the above image, but it’s safe to say I’d happily buy most of the collection.
As a big fan of black & gold, as well as the Baroque trend, these are items I could work into one of my outfits.
If you fancy adding a little goth-glam to your party look this season, or just to your everyday outfits, look no further.

I was hoping to have this post up last Thursday, which was the release date of this collection.
Unfortunately things got in the way, but it’s here now and just as amazing as it would have been then.
I just hope you haven’t seen too many similar posts, because I’m sure that I’m not the only one in love with this.

OOTD: Gold Leaf

(Blazer: H&M, Top: Chicnova*, Jeans: Primark, Shoes: Oasap*)

Finally I had time to do another outfit post!
I’ve been so busy lately that even when I dress up I don’t have time to take photos.
Well let’s hope that will be sorted soon, because I love dressing up and posting my outfits on here.
This top is one of those items that looks casual but can so easily be coordinated with a dressy outfit too.
I went for something in the middle, and paired it with a simple blazer and jeans – I wanted it to stand out.
This is for fans of this season’s Baroque trend who love the look but want to work it into a more casual outfit.
It’s from Chicnova, another online store that updates constantly with cheap, on-trend items.

I also visited Aurum Jewellers again on this day, but more on that later…
