Trend Alert: Mix those Colours!!

Magazines such as Edge Style, Jelly, Blenda and Happie Nuts have been going crazy over mixing colours lately. A trend which has been popular with Western designer brands this year too – check out Tori’s post
So what are the basics and how can you get the look
Obviously this is better suited to a more Otona look and is popular in Mode styles, but I really think that anyone can work this kind of look into their wardrobe
The trick to achieving the look is to mix bold, block colours such as; yellow x pink, blue x red, purple x orange etc. etc. And it’s not just tops and bottoms that count – bold coloured shoes, handbags and accessories also make a statement
Mixing black/white with bold colours is also prominent in a lot of magazines right now. Patterned items (florals, stripes, polka dot) in bold colours is also big, especially when paired with black top or bottom layers This leans it more towards a mode look than high-fashion
JELLY’s ‘white top, coloured bottom’ feature

Happie Nuts & Blenda
The possibilities are endless, just go with the flow and pair whatever you think looks best. My favourite combo right now is turqouise x pink

♥My 7 Links Project♥

The wonderful Caroline ofSpooning with a Schoolboynominated me for the My 7 Links Project – her post is here.

The point of the project is to unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again.”
So away we go~

My Most Beautiful Post

Kamakura is such a lovely place to visit for the day, so the memories (not only the scenery) of Kamakura are really beautiful to me.

My Most Popular Post

My 2nd ever post! I translated a quiz from an issue of Ageha which determines your eye type and what kind of make-up would suit it, along with a tutorial. I never expected this to be so popular, especially as it had so few comments.
My Most Controversial Post
This post was from a CNN-GO article that was based on a rather controversial topic – dressing children like adults. The journalist’s lack of knowledge and poor writing style aside, it raised quite a few questions and discussions.

My Most Helpful Post
This is also one of my most popular posts and I think one of my most helpful too. I wanted to review Japanese hair dyes (specifically ones aimed at gals) as I know lots of Western gals may want to try them at some point but they don’t know how they will turn out.
A Post Whose Success Surprised Me

At the beginning of this year I felt the need to express my opinions on gal and where I stand with it. I was so happy to see that I wasn’t alone in my thoughts and that so many people offered me their kindness and advice. Thank you all!!

A Post I Feel Didn’t Get The Attention It Deserved

This was only a small series with 2 posts on former EGG models (Hiromi and Natsumi) and where they are today. I was hoping for a positive response to these as I wanted to go further with them but they weren’t as popular as I had hoped.

The Post I’m Most Proud Of

Once again I’m being a bit cheeky and picking a series rather than an individual post, but I have to mention this as I was so proud of the reactions and feedback I got on these. I really wanted to help bring a positive vibe to the Western gal community. I’m actually thinking of carrying this on (when I get some spare time) but with a new look. What do you guys think?

Review: Dollywink Volume Mascara

This post is sponsored by Artie Beauty Cosmetics
Recently, Artie were kind enough to sponsor me with the Dollywink Volume Mascara

It came really quickly and was perfectly packaged. I also appreciated the business card, which I always think is a nice touch
I love the packaging of the Dollywink products, they never fail to impress in my opinion – the mascara comes in a plastic case which stands up so you can proudly display it in your collection
So what about the mascara?
 without
with
It’s a little clumpy without a eyelash comb to help separate the lashes but it does definitely make them look thicker (it supposedly separates your lashes and makes them thicker). I was hoping for a different effect on my top lashes to be honest, as I can’t always use a comb on them and clumpy lashes are a big no-no for me. Even so it worked nicely on my lower ones.
It blends a lot better with make-up…
Looks much better once the lashes have been tidied up, no?

Well it boosts that it’s long-lasting and waterproof, both of which are attributes that I can say are true. I never had any trouble with it fading during the day, and I even managed to have a shower without it removing. That said, it does remove easily with make-up remover or wipes so don’t worry.

The mascara wand is nothing extraordinary but I did like that it had an ultra fine tip on the brush so that you can use it on your lower lashes and the outer corners – good thinking!

☆Blog Awards☆

First off, a massively big thank you to Tori and Emilie who both gave me blog awards recently I am very grateful!!
The rules of accepting this award are…
  1. Say something about the person who gave you the award; Where do I start? Toni has been with me since the beginning *sniff* haha. She’s such a gorgeous, wonderful person and her blog reflects this perfectly!
  2. Write something about yourself, and your aim with your blog; I don’t really have a specific aim. I just want to blog about the things I love and hopefully help bring interesting posts to my followers. Although I think my aim has changed slightly this year, with wanting to make my blog a bit more personal, more like a lifestyle blog maybe. I just hope I’m doing ok haha
  3. Give the award to 9 bloggers you love; FiripaJELLY AnnaSamiEmyJennyYaptusMikaCindyInstantmint
The award from Emilie asks that I tell you 7 random facts about myself, so here we go
  1. Gal is the first real ‘label-fashion’ I have followed.
  2. I’m not really a fan of Japanese music and actually prefer American artists.
  3. I’m not a girly-girl but I love pink!
  4. I also love Agejo/D.I.A etc. styles but I don’t think they suit me.
  5. I have been dying my hair since I was around 13 years old.
  6. Lately I’ve been getting inspiration from European and American bloggers.
  7. I really miss Tokyo but I’ll be sad to leave Paris, and I want to go back to England.
I’m also passing this award onto 7 other lovely bloggers; ♥EmmieMaikoMiss WaveMieEmiTricia

Tsubasa Masuwaka Blog Book – Part 1

Someone asked for ‘scans’ of the Tsubasa blog book that I bought during the Japan Expo, and because I don’t have access to a scanner right now I decided to take photos instead ごめんね。This obviously means they’re not the best quality but I’ve seen HQ scans before so they floating around somewhere
I also want to mention that I won’t be posting scans of the actual text parts as those are just blog entries from her old blog, which you can find online (I think it’s still up) – the entries in the book range from Oct 2006~June 2007
I am going to split the photos into 2 posts; the fashion & beauty segments and photoshoots. First up… Fashion & Beauty!!

Part 2 Coming Soon~
