Olympus Pen E-PL1 & 53″ Tripod
It occurred to me the other day that I never introduced the new camera I’ve been using for the blog.
Well here it is, the Olympus Pen E-PL1. It’s a compact DSLR, which means no heavy duty equipment…well compared to my old SLR, which weighed a ton!

The reason I decided to post about it is because I finally invested in a tripod, and it arrived yesterday!
So I spent the afternoon messing around with it and trying to take a few outfit shots etc. Having a tripod makes taking photos for my posts a lot easier, and just for shooting in general. It’s safe to say, I’m very pleased with my purchase.

OOTD: Ready for Business

Blazer: H&M | Top: Topshop | Jeans: Primark

Today I wasn’t dressing for anything particular, just lectures and not much else. I love this blazer from H&M, mainly because of the shape but a tiny part of me also likes to think that I look kinda smart in it…at least I feel ready for business when I wear it.

Shouldn’t everyone own an item that gives them that drive?

Valentines Day Treats

This post and the above photos are to convince you that I can actually bake…did it work?
On Valentines Day I did the usual exchange of small gifts and a card with the fiancé.
I say small because neither of us are really bothered by the ‘holiday’ – it’s nice, but I prefer to give him little gifts and show him I care all year round. I’m a serial gift-giver, seriously.

It also happened to fall on our ‘Tuesday Movie Night’ and since the crew usually consists of the guys and me, I decided to use my ‘Cherry & Green Tea Cake Mix’ to make little cupcakes for them all. I covered a few of them with regular icing, but the majority were treated to a special Matcha icing that I made with my green tea powder – I will never tire of finding different ways to cook with it.
There you have it. Nothing fancy, just simple and tasty.
And they were VERY tasty, if I do say so myself!

Lazy Oaf S/S 2012 Collection

Lazy Oaf S/S 2012 Collection

I may not be a cat lady, or a particularly big fan of cats in general, but I do love cat print on clothing.
So when I saw the new S/S Collection by Lazy Oaf I was instantly drawn in and ran off to the website to take a peek at the lookbook.

After drooling over the two middle tops (I must have them), I decided to choose some of the other items that I plan to add to my wardrobe from the new collection. I do realise the hypocrisy in this post, after only mentioning in my last one that I don’t own many t-shirts…well Lazy Oaf are obviously the ones to change that.

Isn’t the Watermelon dress garishly amazing?!
I don’t know if I could work it, but I’d definitely give it a try!

Prices start at £30, you can check out the entire women’s collection here

OOTD: Tiger Tiger, Burning Bright

Shawl: H&M | T-Shirt: WC | Skirt: Miss Selfridge

It always feels a bit of a chore to pick an outfit for Monday lectures. So lately I have been trying to tackle that feeling, because when I’m dressed in an outfit that makes me happy, the day goes by a lot better and a lot quicker…even when I have to sit through a class on Nazi Germany.
The Tiger t-shirt is one of my favourites; I picked it up in Japan, last Summer. To me it adds a little bit of edge to an otherwise regular outfit…or maybe I just really like tops with animals on. I don’t own many t-shirts, so when I do buy one you know it’s because I really love the design, cut etc.

Really shocked at how dark the top layer of my hair looked today.
It must be the lighting in the room as nothing has changed.

Lust for: Urban Outfitters

During my trip to Leeds I stopped by Urban Outfitters, as I always do.
I managed to grab a couple of items that called out to me, whilst avoiding the other 90% of the store that I wanted to buy.
The Gem Stone Stud Earrings were in the sale, and as I don’t often wear studs I decided to give them a go. Photos just can’t do these justice. They sparkle and shine in all the right places. Love them!
Recently I had been eyeing a particular pair of heels by Deena & Ozzy on the online store, which I also bought during my visit. The Black Panther Court Shoes can speak for themselves, gorgeous, no? However after only wearing them for a coffee date, I’ve found a design flaw. The heel has already started to wear down (as you can see in the photos), which worries me, as I’m not too sure whether I will be able to have them re-heeled properly due to the detailing. Apart from that I don’t really have any complaints, although I should mention that since the material is ‘suedette’ they do collect dust and dirt easily.
Do I regret buying them? Hmm…I have bought cheaper heels that have lasted longer. I don’t expect heels to wear down after half an hour of walking BUT I shall try and work out a solution.
