Japan Post; Picture requests~

In the two previous Japan picture posts I brought you; ‘sweets‘ and ‘a day trip to Kamakura‘. However I realised that maybe the topics were too specific and maybe I was being greedy picking them?! So what I want to know is…
Yep, I am asking you to request pictures of what you would like to see in Tokyo. This way I can bring you photos of exactly what you want. So what can you request?!
Anything from UFO catcher goodies to traditional Japan, or maybe you want to see some of the scenery in Tokyo?! Just leave a comment requesting what you would like to see and I will try my best to capture it.
Ask away and remember, it can be whatever you want, as long as it isn’t something like ‘a picture of a host’s underwear’ because I could get into trouble for that haha

Life in Japan; Day trip to Kamakura

For the second installment of the ‘Japan picture series‘ I am taking you all on a ‘Day Trip to Kamakura’…well I’m going to show you pictures from a recent trip I took there, but I hope you will all enjoy it just as much as I did.

Kamakura is a city in Kanagawa prefecture, which is about 1hr train journey from Tokyo (Yokosuka line). It has a lot of history – which I had to do a presentation on recently, hence my interest – and it is a popular day trip for tourists and Tokyoites alike. There are lots of sights to see in Kamakura, including; Buddhist and Shinto shrines (also ‘the great five Zen temples’), bamboo forests and of course, the famous ‘Daibutsu’ (big Buddha).
We visited Engaku-ji (Kita-Kamakura station) first…

After our visit to the temple, we hopped back on the train to Kamakura station.

Kamakura is a lively city, with plenty of traditional restaurants and shops – the rice cakes here are well known and there are plenty of places to pick some up. There are also quite a few tourist-y shops too though but they don’t mark the atmosphere or city itself ;D
After a look around Kamakura we headed to see Daibutsu – you have to take the Enoshima electric railway to Hase station.

It can be very crowded, especially during the Summer and on a public holiday.

↑↑ Look at the little girl ↑↑
I think this shows just how big he is.

If you’re interested in Japanese art, like I am, then you’ll love this.
It’s really beautiful!!
You can also go inside of Daibutsu, for only 20円. However it’s only the inside of a bronze statue, with some steep stairs and a very poorly organised in-out system. So if you’re like me and don’t like being too squished then it’s probably not worth it.
But what if all that doesn’t interest you?!

Well maybe you could go surfing (Kamakura is a well known spot for it), or wake-boarding, or maybe just to catch up on your tan…on a sunny day of course ;D

So what did you think of Kamakura?
Have you been? Would you want to go?
Also, I am now on bloglovin’ so feel free to check it out, and send some love ;D

Life in Japan; Sweets

I mentioned previously how I wanted to post not only about Gal, but Japan (mainly pictures), whilst I spend my year here. Therefore I thought I would start the series with something everyone loves…

SWEETS~

Let’s start with my favourite thing about Japan….MATCHA!!
This is Matcha mini-parfait with mochi and red beans.
A traditional sweet that is still super yummy today 😀

Caramel and honey pancakes.
My boyfriend ate this and I was tempted to try some but it was gone in a second!
Must have been good ;D

Haha can you tell that Denny’s is good for desserts?!
This is their popular chocolate parfait mix.
My friend ate this but let me try a little, and it was pretty good.

Pumpkin, sweet potato and cream parfait.
I think they still have this on their Autumn menu.
I highly recommend it!
Mont Blanc cake is very popular in Japan.
I found it a little too sweet though D:

Sweet bean covered in kinako (thanks Sara Mari!)
My friends and I were given tasters as we walked around Kawagoe.
It was delicious~

A strawberry and cream donut, from Mr. Donut.
I don’t really like strawberry but this was from a friend so I tried it.
I think fans of strawberry would enjoy it XD

More Matcha!!
This is the best matcha chocolate I have tried so far.

Of course, everyone’s favourite Japanese beverage…
MELON SODA~
Fanta are now selling it in bottles from 7/11

Finally, a strange sounding beverage that caught my eye.
Milk Tea + Bitter Chocolate = Tea Mocha?!
Actually it was quite nice 😀
Can you tell that I enjoy sweet things with a bitter/savoury edge?!
Did you spot anything you would like to try, or anything that you wouldn’t??
Disclaimer: These images were collected over a few months, so don’t worry I am feeding myself properly haha
If you liked this post, please comment and let me know what you would like to see next time!!
…and on a related note, the lovely Sara Mari also did a post about ‘Japanese snacks that are good but bad for you‘ – it’s definitely worth a look 😀

Recent/Holiday Coordinates….

☆ ~ French Macarons ~ ☆

I can’t believe it’s been a week since I updated last. I’ve been so busy sorting out everything, as I’M MOVING TO TOKYO NEXT WEEK!! Haha I still can’t quite believe it myself…it’s odd. Can’t wait though. Unfortunately I have some bad news, before I hound you with my latest coordinates. The ‘Gaijin Gyaru’ series is on a small hiatus, until I settle in. Sorry!! It’s just going to be a very hectic first few months, so I need to concentrate. I will still be updating whenever I can, I just won’t be able to send out the last few interviews just yet.

Recent Coordinates

Tshirt: Peacocks | Jeans: Primark | Scarf: H&M | Jewelry: Swarovski

You’ll see this tie-dye shirt and the necklace a couple of times in this post, coz I love them so much XD

The boyf bought me this Swarovski necklace for our 18 month anniversary. I wasn’t expecting anything but he saw me looking on the website and knew how much I wanted it.

Tshirt: Peacocks | Shorts: GILFY | Bag: tutuHA

I am sending out some tutuHA love to Sara Mari with this one. I think she loves the store just as much, if not more, than me ;D

Holiday & Coordinates

As you’ll see, I didn’t take too many photos of my coords whilst I was on holiday. And I didn’t wear anything too amazing, but I think that was down to the heat (around 33c) and the fact that I spent 1/2 of the day in the pool XD Anyway, here are some photos of my holiday in Provence:

Top: TOPSHOP | Skirt: H&M

This outfit was inspired by the gorgeous Ena, and this coord of hers.
Sorry for the lack of accessories, I always tend to put them on last before I rush out haha

Top: H&M | Skirt: Republic | Headband: H&M

This was another inspired coord. I wanted a casual Mode look and I really liked this one (centre) from JELLY.

And with a more attractive background

I may not get the chance to update before I leave for Tokyo, on Wednesday (I arrive on Thur evening)…but I will be updating my twitter so keep an eye out.
