Tatty Devine Sample Sale Haul

My haul from the Tatty Devine Sample Sale

When I first heard that Tatty Devine were holding a sample sale I knew I had to go.
I didn’t think I would be able to actually, but thankfully things worked out so I could.
So I joined the queue early on a Saturday morning, and I felt quite chilled.
That all changed when we stepped into the store.
If you know their Brick Lane store well, you will also know that it is tiny.
It works perfectly well for Tatty, but it’s not the first place you’d go to hold a sample sale.
So it was a battle of the superfans as ladies (and gentleman alike) scavenged through the boxes.
It was a bit like a treasure hunt in a way, as everyone battled to find the one piece they had been after.
Seriously though, even though I kid about it being chaotic everyone was very bubbly and excited.
I also met a very lovely lady who I wish I’d exchanged info with – all I know of her is ‘Bridezilla on Wheels’.
Don’t worry though, this isn’t going to turn into a ‘We on a blustery morning in Brick Lane…’ post.
So what was I after? Well to be honest with you I didn’t really know. I just wanted to take a peek.
That meant it was even more enticing when I started finding classic pieces I wanted (but couldn’t justify at full price) and old items that I’d missed out on the first time round. So I put up with the pushing and general craziness to search for more hidden gems. And boy, did I find some hidden gems! My Tatty Devine collection is ever expanding, with pieces that reflect my interests & personal style – that’s what I love about Tatty Devine as a brand. In a nutshell? I’ll be back!

New Hair!!

Say hello to the new me!
Yes, after 6 months of avoiding the hairdresser, I finally had my hair cut.
For a while I had wanted to grow my hair out, after looking at an old photo. Thanks for that nostalgia.
Well after doing that for a while I remembered how thin my hair looked long and fancied short hair again.
So yesterday I made my way to Bleach in Dalston – the same salon that put the lovely red in my hair (thanks Scarlett!).
If you follow hair trends then you should have have most probably heard of Bleach. Their main salon is based in Dalston (just down the road from me – lucky!) and they also have one in Topshop Oxford Circus. They’re known their colouring (see their amazing LookBook here) but they’re also not too bad with a pair of scissors. Being in Bleach is like watching artists at work. The hair creations that go on in that salon are amazing. I always end up wanting a new hair colour each time I go as I see other fancy people walking out with theirs. When I went yesterday, this lovely lady was having her hair dyed blue and it was gorgeous! Anyway, back to my hair. Forgotten what it looked like before? It was a slightly longer version of this.
I wanted a long bob, to make my hair look a bit thicker and so I could have fun styling it.
I usually go into a salon with an idea of what I want but know it won’t usually happen.
Well this time the wonderful Loren cut & styled my hair for me, and she did an amazing job.
My apologies for the poor quality photos but I was feeling a bit blergh after getting back, so I used my iPhone.
Anyway, here’s a derpy gif of my new hair to amuse you into forgetting how bad the photos really are.

My New Tatty Devine, Frida Kahlo Necklace!

The moment the new large Frida was added to the Tatty Devine classic collection, I knew it had to be mine. I was raving about it on Twitter for days, and was constantly bugging the lovely (and patient) Tatty Devine staff as to when it would be in their Brick Lane store – my local store. Finally, on Friday, they tweeted me with some very exciting news!
So on my usual Sunday stroll down Brick Lane, I knew where my first stop would be.
I had a lovely chat with Charlotte, who knew exactly why I was there, before I tried Frida on.
It was love at first sight! Everything about the necklace was just as I had hoped for.
I was a little afraid it would be too big for me (as I’m such a shorty), but it was perfectly sized.
The original smaller necklace was also on leather, but was thinner and only featured two adornments.
Whereas this new larger version is thicker and has plenty of gems, flowers and sparkles.
I am so in love with this necklace, Tatty Devine have outdone themselves…as usual!
I was a bit wary of the price tag, but this is completely worth it, as are all their statement pieces.
This isn’t just a piece of jewellery, this is an investment and the latest addition to my ever growing Tatty Devine collection.
You can purchase your own Frida here, or browse the new Classic Collection here.

Photo Diary: Street Art in Shoreditch, London

This post is image heavy, so I’ve popped the rest below

I’m very lucky living so close to Shoreditch, and I often spend my free time in the area.
Street Art is a big part of the ‘neighbourhood’ and new pieces pop up all the time.
Some people might call this graffiti, but to me it’s art.
I wanted to share some of my current favourites with you.
A lot of the pieces are colourful and fun, whilst others have a deeper meaning.
Art & Fashion are a big part of Shoreditch, so it only makes sense that artists come here to show off their work.
It’s brilliant that these artists can work with such large canvases and bring life to the old buildings.
Which piece is your favourite?

Photo Diary: Tatty Devine Brick Lane Tour

Tatty Devine’s Brick Lane Store, London

A few weeks ago I visited the Tatty Devine store on Brick Lane for a workshop.
If you missed the post earlier this week, and were curious as to what I made, you can find it here.
Anyway, I couldn’t resist taking some photos of their new collection, and some old favourites, whilst I was there.
I remember when I first visited the store, and it’s safe to say it has changed a lot!
The Brick Lane store is now spacious, inviting, and filled from floor to ceiling with goodies.
When I took the photos I wasn’t sure how they would turn out and if I would even use them.
Well I love how the collection looks so much that I wanted to share the photos with you.
I guess that the pieces don’t really need an amazing photographer as they’re so gorgeous.
They really speak for themselves, right?
My favourite pieces are the Lotus Flower Celebration & Sunrise Necklaces.
What pieces stand out for you?

Tatty Devine Neon Elephant Necklace Workshop

The necklace we would create, in our own design

Working hard: After choosing our colour scheme and decorating with crystals we put it together ourselves
My final piece: Neon ombre with gold crystal eyed elephants

When I heard Tatty Devine were holding a workshop involving neon and elephants I was excited!
I love elephants, they’re such loyal, beautiful creatures and of course I’m addicted to neon right now.
Unfortunately though I found out too late to grab tickets, as they had all already sold out.

“So how did you go then?” I hear you all ask.
Well, that is all down to the lovely Charlotte from Tatty Devine.
She had seen my dismay publicly displayed on Twitter and saved me a ticket.
I feel sad that someone pulled out of the workshop, but I was very happy to be able to attend.
It was all very last minute, as in I didn’t know I would be going until the evening before.
Still, I jumped at the chance to go and said yes, of course!
The workshop was as fun as always, and the staff as welcoming.
The lovely assistants were there to make sure everyone got on ok, and didn’t poke an eye out.
Thankfully all eyes remained intact and we all learnt how to put together a necklace, a la Tatty Devine.
For my necklace I went for an ombre neon colour scheme, to compliment my teeny tiny elephants.
After the workshop ended we all spent our 10% off (complimentary when you attend a workshop).
I enjoyed walking around the store after everyone had left and chatting with the lovely ladies.
I even love the new collection so much that I had to take some photos for another post.
Keep an eye out on Tatty Devine’s event page for future workshops.

Event: Benefit Fake Up

Benefit Event to promote their new concealer ‘Fake Up’

Last week I attended the final stop in the Benefit ‘Fake Up’ tour; London.
A bunch of bloggers joined together to learn all about the latest addition to the Benefit family.
I’m not going to say too much about ‘Fake Up’ as I have a review coming up on the blog this week.
The one thing I will tell you about it though, is that Fake Up is a new hydrated concealer that comes in 3 shades.
The event was held in the adorable Spitalfields store.
In attendance were the lovely PR and social media ladies and their head of make-up.
I thought it was lovely being able to meet the people I had been in contact with via email.
And of course it was wonderful to meet their head make-up, trend artist and brow artist – Lisa, who was amazing.
There were also demonstrations of the product, like how to get the best out of the concealer, and how to use the darker shades for contouring. Finally there was the chance to win various prizes throughout the night, and yours truly won my favourite mascara for answering the first question of the night!
I should also give a cheeky mention to the goodie bag, as I do feel that we were spoilt rotten.
We received a bag filled with one of each shade of Fake Up, so 3 in all, as well as the Hello Flawless compact (to celebrate it’s 1 year anniversary), which we were matched to at the event. I plan to review every product so keep an eye out!

Finally, I met some wonderful bloggers, so a big shout-out too all those lovely ladies!
