OOTD: Back to Black

(Top; bought in Kyoto – eBay, Shorts; H&M, Tights; Alta, Shinjuku, Shoes; ASOS, Accessories; Topshop)

As the title says, I’m back to wearing black. I was doing so well! I guess it’s true when they say, old habits die hard.
At least I’m wearing red on my lips. By the way, the ‘kissing photo’ was actually due to the fiancé. He took my photos this time (rather than me and a tripod), and he told me to mess around a bit.
I’m so quirky and original!
The top I bought in my last few days in Japan before I moved back to England. It was from a small store in Kyoto, but a few months ago I found the exact same one from an English eBay seller – pretty cool. I included a link in the description under the photo. It’s just a pretty cool shirt in general actually.  The skull is made up of famous last words such as: “Shoot Coward! You are only going to kill a man” – Che Guevara

My favourite part of the top has to be the chains and holes across the back and shoulders though. I was going for a fun, rock-ish vibe and I think it suits that well. I think it would have looked better if I had been able to get the tights to actually sit straight – one of my peeves when it comes to hosiery.
Finally, do you like the haircut? Nothing new, but it needed a trim.

OOTD: Silhouette

Sweater Top: bought in Japan | Skirt: Primark | Accessories: H&M

Here we go again, another week has begun, and I’m still layering up. I really am praying for warmer weather! I was teased with it when I went back home (down South) and when I went to London recently. I know we have nice weather, it just doesn’t favour my uni town apparently.
I really liked the silhouette of this outfit, which is surprising as I’m not a fan of layering this skirt over other items.  Why? Well actually it sticks out a bit under the elastic at the top (only noticed this with Primark skirts), which has put me off in the past. However, today, I manned up and I kinda liked the results. The top I bought when I was living in Japan. It’s a sweater-dress-top as I like to call it.  In Japan it was acceptable as a dress, but it’s ridiculously short by British standards…in my opinion.
And for those who think I may just have a black tight fetish, you’re not wrong I should explain;
My knee is still pretty messy after my fall a few weeks ago so I’ve been hiding/protecting it in tights etc.

Presents from Taiwan

(Face Masks; Sasa, Green Tea Powder, Happie Nuts Magazine & Rienda Pouch)

Recently my mum went over to Hong Kong to visit my sister, who is currently living there with her boyfriend.
Whilst she was there they decided to take a trip to Taiwan, as they’d been before and really love the country.
In-between visiting friends, and eating some amazing food, my mum picked me up a few gifts.
She’s calling these ‘belated birthday presents’, but I already received some money and chocolate from my parents, so I wasn’t expecting anything else.
What did I get?
+ Japanese Cherry Blossom Sheet Face Masks
+ Apricot Sheet Face Masks
+ Green Tea Powder Sachets
+ Happie Nuts Magazine
The face masks are from a store named Sasa. They have quite a few stores in Asia, but they also sell their products online, here. They ship internationally, and are one of the best places online to find Asian beauty products.
Happie Nuts for my readers who don’t know, is a Japanese fashion magazine. It’s mainly aimed at women in their 20s and predominantly features ‘gyaru’ or ‘gal’ fashion, which some of you may know I was a fan of. I still enjoy reading Happie Nuts though, as I find the fashion and beauty articles are more on trend with Western styles.
For my new readers, I do speak and read Japanese (competently, not fluently).

Finally, the green tea power sachets (Matcha) are just because I love Matcha so much, which you’ve probably heard me mention a thousand times before. I’m like a broken record!

A Source of Inspiration

You can find me on Tumblr, here
I feel you can usually read my current style from what’s on my Tumblr.
Ever since I started my Tumblr it has been a place for me to store & share my loves & inspirations.
I don’t do it for followers, although I adore the ones I do have, I do it for me.
Simply put, it’s a visual fashion/lifestyle diary, and I love it.
Where do you store your inspiration?

OOTD: Hello Sailor!

Sweater: WC | Skirt: Primark | Boots: Primark
I don’t really have much to say about today’s outfit. It was put together with comfort in mind, as I spent over 6 hours travelling yesterday. Funnily enough, this morning, I was the brightest and most awake I have been in weeks. Travelling may put bags under my eyes, but it does wonders for my get up and goapparently.
I did also think about how I wanted to get some final use out of my knee high boots before the weather starts to change, but if today was anything to go by that won’t be for a while. I hate how the weather keeps teasing me with glimpses of the sun. Please come quickly!

Review: Toujours False Eyelashes & Skin79 Lip Gloss

The lovely people over at Shoppingholics sent me a wonderful package recently.
Here is a mini review of both items:

When I saw these I was so happy that they had sent me some ‘natural’ lashes. It’s been a while since I last wore false eyelashes as I’ve become so picky about the ones I choose, mainly because I prefer a more ‘natural’ look now.
Pros:
+ Cute, efficient packaging (stands up by itself)
+ Lightweight & nice feel to the lashes, not plastic-y at all
+ Gorgeous, natural, cat-eye look that I could easily wear everyday
+ 3 pairs, so if you lose/accidentally break them you’ve got back-ups
Cons:
– Doesn’t come with eyelash glue
– Rather fragile, but should last if you’re careful
– Too long for my eye, so I had to cut them down
Notes:
In my opinion, Japanese false eyelashes are some of the best you can buy.
These were produced by Japanese model Marimo (Popteen) for Eyemazing (a well known false eyelash brand in Japan) and the series contains 3 different sets of lashes, all of which are fruit themed…no idea why though.
You can find the whole series here.

I had previously heard of this brand thanks to their BB Cream, which is very popular in Asia.
I’m not a big lip gloss fan, I’ve recently converted to lipstick, so I was interested in trying this out.
Pros:
+ Didn’t dry out my lips
+ Cute, Anna Sui style packaging
+ Natural colour that would suit most people
+ Small and light, so you can attach it to your keys/purse
Cons:
– Not as ‘glossy’ as I had hoped for
– Slightly sticky when applied and when worn
+The mirror is a little too small to be practical, but it’s a nice touch
Notes:
When I swatched this it was incredibly pale, so much so that it barely showed in photos.
However when applied a few times it came out a nice shade of red. So unless you want more gloss than colour this probably isn’t right for those with pigmented lips.
Find this and more Skin79 products here.
Finally, a picture of me wearing both the eyelashes and lip gloss.

OOTD: Tiger Tiger, Burning Bright

Shawl: H&M | T-Shirt: WC | Skirt: Miss Selfridge

It always feels a bit of a chore to pick an outfit for Monday lectures. So lately I have been trying to tackle that feeling, because when I’m dressed in an outfit that makes me happy, the day goes by a lot better and a lot quicker…even when I have to sit through a class on Nazi Germany.
The Tiger t-shirt is one of my favourites; I picked it up in Japan, last Summer. To me it adds a little bit of edge to an otherwise regular outfit…or maybe I just really like tops with animals on. I don’t own many t-shirts, so when I do buy one you know it’s because I really love the design, cut etc.

Really shocked at how dark the top layer of my hair looked today.
It must be the lighting in the room as nothing has changed.
