Beauty: Marc Jacobs does Make-up

It’s highly likely by now that you’ve already heard this news.
Well guess what? I’m gonna tell you all over again because I want to!
I am a big big big Marc Jacobs fan…if you hadn’t already guessed by now.
The man can do no wrong in my eyes. Ok I lied, sometimes I’ll think ‘Really Marc?’
That doesn’t happen often though so I like to think of myself as a Marc Jacobs fangirl.

Marc Jacobs Beauty will be a line of around 120 products!
There will be foundations, powders, eyeliner, eyeshadow, lip stick, blush, nail polish and more.
Not only that but it will be featuring some products it calls unisex, such as lip balm, brow gel and concealer.
They’ve pretty much managed to pop a bit of everything into the collection.
Well played Marc, well played.

The preview snaps of the collection look amazing so far.
This is the first beauty line I’ve been really excited about for a while.
Prices are said to be around $24 (£15) for a lip balm and $59 (£38) for a palette.
Unfortunately they seem to be going with designer prices rather than Sephora prices.
I’m not too upset though as I expected something along those lines, it is Marc Jacobs afterall.
That said, I’d gladly invest in a few pieces if the price reflects the quality, and I think it will.
The beauty line is going to be released on 9th August in Sephora in the US, with a preview on July 19.
No word right now if it will come to the UK but I’m hoping that, and it probably will, come here.

Keeping My Feet Fancy for Summer

Peppermint Foot Range from The Body Shop

It’s not public knowledge, but I have a slight phobia of feet.
That might seem odd when this whole post is about feet…but…yeah.
Phobia aside, I made the decision to try and get my feet feeling and looking good for Summer.
My grandmother always says that you should take good care of your feet as you use them everyday.
Well I walk a lot and spend most days on my feet so sometimes they can feel a bit achey and worn out.
It’s time to take her advice and look after my ‘tootsies’…as some might say.
I’d previously tried The Body Shop’s Peppermint Foot Rescue and was pretty impressed.
In fact I was so impressed that I decided I wanted to try out more products from the range.
So I made a stop at The Body Shop on Hampstead High Street – the staff are super lovely there!
I really appreciate staff who know about the product and can recommend items that compliment each other.
I picked up a few pieces from the range and had some help choosing a few others.
I bought:
4. Peppermint Cooling Foot Spray
I started trying them out this weekend and I’m already impressed and my feet feel a bit better.
I think that if I keep up with the routine my feet will be feeling amazing and looking fancy in no time!

Review: New MUA ‘Bright Coral Nail Polish

Recently MUA rebranded their £1 nail polishes.
That meant a new bottle, new brush and new colours.
After trying their old polishes I was curious to see if there had been an improvement.
So when I saw their new shade ‘Bright Coral’ I knew I had to have it.
Pros:
+ Applied easily
+ Great colour
+ Opaque in 2 coats
+ True to colour

Cons:
– Chipped after 2 days
– Bottle design is a rip-off

Notes:
First off, I’d like to mention the new design for these bottles.
I love the simplicity of it, but I really dislike how MUA have ripped off Essie’s bottle.
It’s obvious from first glance that this is what they’ve done, and everyone has noticed.
Anyway, onto the polish! I loved the new brush, it’s much better than the old ones they were using.
It applied easily and the colour was a lot more opaque then previous shades which were too sheer.
It did chip after 2 days though unfortunately, and that was with a bottom & top coat so I was a little sad.
BUT for £1 a bottle I’m not complaining! I just hope they bring out some more interesting shades, as the ones that are out right now aren’t very inspiring. Even so, this is a nice shade and very Summery, I think I’ll be wearing it often.
You can buy this shade online here, or in Superdrug stores.

Style: Wish List Outfits

When I am about to buy an item, 99% of the time I think of how I’ll style it.
I love putting together an outfit in my head so I decided to have a bit of fun on here.
I styled a couple of outfits out of a few pieces I have seen online and fallen in love with.
I think these two outfits perfectly sum up how eclectic my personal style is.
I love the femininity and pastel hues of outfit #1, but go back to my monochrome, rock roots with #2.
Another reason for posting these two outfits was to show you how I would style such different looks.
Which look is your favourite?
Most of the items featured come from Lashes of London, Topshop and ASOS.

Photo Diary: A Week in My Shoes

In the past week I’ve been working but making time for fun also.
It started with me going for dinner with Nhuc & Sophie, for a catch-up.
The amazingly gorgeous cake was mine & Nhuc’s dessert…no not the whole thing.
The next day I attended the Spirit of Summer Fair with Anna – watch my vlog here.
I did some chocolate tasting at the event (with Paul A Young) as well as some shopping.
I should have bought a new perfume as my favourite Jo Malone fragrance ran out, luckily I have another.
During the week my dad came to visit (whilst my mum stayed at home to take care of the dog).
We attended the Netsuke Exhibition at the Japanese Embassy – the main reason for his visit.
We went for lunch at The Breakfast Club, as it’s one of his favourite places.
Then we popped next door to one of Paul A Young’s chocolate shops.
I was treated to a box of amazingly delicious chocolates.
So that’s pretty much my week, it wasn’t anything too crazy exciting but it was fun.
I also took a few outfit shots (see ootd post here), to keep things flowing.

Video: Spirit of Summer Fair 2013

On Saturday I visited the Spirit of Summer Fair 2013 at the Olympia.
Stalls at the trade show featured fashion, food, jewellery and more.
It was my first time at the venue and I loved it.

I also wanted to present it to you in different way.
Many friends and bloggers have lead to me finally trying out video on the blog.
It doesn’t feature me personally right now, but I plan to get round to that eventually.
As for now, let me know what you think of me presenting events etc in this way.

You can follow me on YouTube here.
Make sure you watch in 720HD for the best version of the video.
Tickets were provided for me on behalf of Figleaves.

Escentual Micellar Water Trial

The Escentual Micellar Water Trial*

On Saturday I found out that I had been lucky enough to be chosen for the Escentual Micellar Water Trial.
I was chosen amongst 99 other beauty addicts (i.e. bloggers, vloggers etc.) to try out 7 secret samples. These 7 samples, labelled A-G are all well-known/high-end brand Micellar Water’s, but whilst we know which brands will be taking part, we don’t know which sample belongs to which brand. It’s a beauty addict’s dream come true.

The waters on trial are:
I’m a Micellar Water convert and have been using it as a part of my daily skincare routine for over a year now.
I stick to Avène’s Cleanser & Make-up Remover, which is actually one of the samples on trial. However, even though I have stock of it, I’ve been curious about other brands, so I’m excited to give all of these a try and give my opinion on each. We have only 14 days to trial all 7 samples, which logically allocates 2 days per sample. I will be keeping track of each sample and writing up a review for the blog in 2 weeks time, when the trial has ended. I may even have a guess at which sample belongs to which brand – although I’ll probably fail miserably, but it will be fun to see if I can get any right.
