Review: Witch Mattifying Moisturiser

Witch Mattifying Moisturiser, with SPF15 for Oily/Combination Skin*

At the Pegasus Live event I spoke with a representative of Witch.
We spoke about how I prefer not to use a primer, and how my skin dislikes certain moisturisers.
She was confident in recommending their new mattifying moisturiser and thought it would be perfect.
So you can imagine I was very happy to find one in my goodie bag, so I could try it out for myself.
Pros:
+ Moisturising
+ Doesn’t break me out
+ Works well as a primer
+ Fits well into my daily skin/make-up routine

Cons:
– Not great for the current Summer heatwave

Notes:
My skin can often feel dry after cleansing if I don’t use a moisturiser.
This solved that problem, and also worked well as a primer when applying make-up.
It didn’t break me out either, which can often be a problem when I use a new moisturiser.
The only problem I had was that it felt slightly oily on my problem areas, which wasn’t great for applying concealer/foundation on top of. That said, I think the current heatwave may be contributing to that so I’m hopeful that it won’t be such a problem when the weather cools down again.
You can buy Witch Mattifying Moisturiser in Boots stores, or online here.

Haul: Topshop & Primark

(Dress: Topshop, Necklace: Primark, Shoes: Primark)

Just a tiny haul post with some items I bought recently.
I needed a nice new Summer dress, some shoes to match and a bit of bling bling.
Well that is a lie because I already own the same necklace from Primark – this one is for my sister.
I genuinely love the jewellery Primark is releasing right now, from their regular & limited edition collections.
The majority of pieces are bold statement necklaces and earrings, and are perfect for pairing with tees etc.
I bought this necklace a couple of weeks ago for myself and I was tempted to buy another, in case I broke mine.
That probably seems a bit weird but I love this necklace to pieces…like I would literally wear it until it’s in pieces.
I know, I know, I have a serious problem when it comes to buying jewellery. I just can’t help it!
I haven’t posted a full on photo of the dress as you’ll find an outfit post featuring it on Saturday.
As for the shoes, they’re so simply chic and comfortable – the perfect pair of flats!

Results: Escentual Micellar Water Trial

Remember the Micellar Water Blind Trial I did for Escentual?
(If you don’t remember it you can view it here)
Well 100 Bloggers voted and the results are in, and I was very surprised at the final scores.
It’s obvious by the results that what worked for me, didn’t necessarily work for others.
I think this trial is the perfect example of how everyone’s skin is different.
My favourite? Dior’s Micellar Water.
My least favourite? La Roche-Posay.
It’s funny how my favourite was in the bottom 3, and my least favourite was in the top 3.
Straightaway after using Sample A I knew that it had to be Dior, don’t ask me how.
Maybe it’s because I have expensive taste, or I could feel the quality?
Which would I buy again? Dior and Caudalie.
I loved the trial and it has helped me discover some great products.
Micellar Water is my thing so I’ll definitely be investing in some of these in the future.

Pegasus Beauty Showcase

Snaps from Pegasus Beauty Showcase, and the contents of my goodie bag*

Yesterday I attended Pegasus PR’s Beauty Showcase at One Marylebone.
The ladies (are there any gents? I’ve not met one yet) at Pegasus PR are always so lovely.
I am always happy to meet and chat with them as they genuinely love what they’re doing.
They also represent so many wonderful brands, a lot of whom I own and buy regularly.
So I knew there would be some amazing brands at the showcase and I couldn’t wait.
I was literally one of the first to arrive – that’s how eager I was to check it out!
The showcase itself was set out very nicely, making it easy to notice (and chat) with each brand.
Some of the brands I know and have worked with thanks to Pegasus were there: Trilogy, Avène, Klorane, Dr Organic Australian Bodycare, and Holland & Barrett. It’s always nice to see tried and tested favourites. I was also happy to see a few new brands being represented such as Collection (formerly Collection 2000) and Witch. Even though I was impressed by pretty much all the brands there were several that really stood out to me. What were they?
+ Trilogy Sensitive Range – sfor those with sensitive skin. The serum was as light as a feather.
+ Dr Organics Snail Gel – sounded weird enough for me to try it, and smelt heavenly, like lemon sherbet.
+ Holland & Barrett Aromatherapy Oils – over 35+ oils in the range, each with its own purpose & properties.
SHOWCASE WINNER: Collection Gothic Glam Lipstick & Polish
I will be investing in literally all of these when they’re released later this year (apart from #1 Dramatic polish as that was in my goodie bag). The lipsticks are the exact colours I love and I know I would wear them everyday. The polishes also came in 4 brilliant shades that remind me a bit of crushed velvet – love it!
Thanks for such an amazing showcase Pegasus!
I can’t wait to try out the goodies in my bag and review some on the blog.

Photoshoot: Warehouse Fashion Blogger

Jersey Tee* – Warehouse | Shorts* – Warehouse | Jacket* – Warehouse | Necklace – Topshop | Sunglasses* – Warehouse*

Last week I was Warehouse’s featured fashion blogger! That meant I got to meet some of their lovely team and do a photo shoot with them. I remember buying my prom dress from Warehouse so this is a brand I have a personal history with. I was able to choose my outfit, which I did after being given free reign of one of the Warehouse stores. I choose around 6-7 items, but I knew as soon as I had it on, that this outfit was the one for me!
Even more exciting (and convenient) was the theme and location for the shoot. The theme behind the fashion blogger shoots is ‘Postcards from Shoreditch’, and I’m a Shoreditch gal! The team scouted some locations and we ended up outside Pitfield’s – a gorgeous furniture-goods store/cafe. The colours and contemporary signage made this the perfect place to take photos (with their consent of course). I had fun playing around with poses and acting all model-y and nonchalant – do you guys think I pulled it off? I had such a great time taking part and the photos turned out great too! I hope I can do more photo shoots in the future!
See my photo shoot and a small Q&A with me, here.

Introducing: Harnett & Pope

I first took notice of Harnett & Pope when I came across them at a sample sale.
The pieces were delicate yet strong, with an amazing use of colour, tailoring and fabrics.
After lusting after several pieces, I knew that this was a brand I wanted to keep an eye on!
Luckily for me, Harnett & Pope is the latest addition to the streets of Brick Lane.
The brand was founded in 2011 by Christy Harnett and Katie Pope.
The dynamic duo believe in clothing that ‘stands the test of time’ so they use natural fibers and design and manufacture all of their pieces in the UK. “Harnett & Pope want their garments to be accessible, adaptable, effortless and most importantly wearable in terms of price, fit and quality for a wide audience.” The quality and design of their pieces clearly reflect this, and walking into their store is like walking into the Aladdin’s cave for fashionistas. Inspirations for the collections include: the Far East, Art Deco and Surrealism, with subtle ethereal and gothic undertones.
Is it any wonder why I fell for this brand?
You can find out more about the brand and view their collections here.
Or you can pay them a visit at 125 Brick Lane, London.

OOTD: Neon Nightmare

Shirt* – Chicnova | Trousers – Republic | Necklace – Tatty Devine | Watch – Marc Jacobs | Cuff – Whistles

First off I would just like to apologise for how sporadic my posts have been lately. I’ve been going through a few things personally and haven’t had the mental or physical energy. I’m still dedicated to this blog, so don’t worry I won’t be giving it up. I just need a little rest now & then.

This weekend I met with Anna for brunch and a shopping trip – just what I needed to take my mind of things. I wanted to brighten myself up as the weather was so lovely and well, it’s just felt nice to do so. I put on my leggings, which are basically non-high-waisted disco pants, and my fluorescent shirt from Chicnova. Now when I say fluorescent I mean neon, radioactive green – I love it to pieces, apart from how easily it creases. I decided to pair it with my Frida necklace – hoping to mystically channel some of Frida’s strength. You know, I think it may have even worked a little bit.
Do you have a role model that you look to when you need to be stronger?
