Happy Halloween!

☆★☽ ~ ハッピーハロウィン ~ ☆★☽
Here is a Halloween post featuring my pictures from last weekends party at the infamous Tokyo Decadance event – some of you may remember it, as EGG’s Kaoru attended the one in Paris last year.

Make-up for the evening.
Not a great angle but I think you can see my make-up pretty well.
I had wanted to wear my purple lenses for the event but I was out from 11am that day and I didn’t get home until 9am the following day, so I think it was a smart move on my part not to wear them XD
So the big question is, what did I go as?!

A MAID!!
Haha my costume is courtesy of Donki. To be honest I had so many costumes in mind, but in the end I choose something that was better on the bank balance…plus I can wear it again.
Sorry about the pixelated faces but I didn’t want to post my friends faces all over here.
The actual event was held at Shinjuku’s ‘Christon Cafe’ which is a gorgeous Christian-themed restaurant. The decor is amazing and I completely understand why they decided to hold Tokyo Decadance there.
Of course that’s just a picture outside, whereas inside it looks like this…
I wish the picture had turned out better but unfortunately my camera couldn’t really grasp the beauty of the architecture under all the lasers and lack of light. Maybe I will make a trip back there some time during the day.
Apart from a gorgeous venue, and some pretty decent DJs there were also performances throughout the night. Unfortunately I can’t post pictures of all of them as some were a little risque and I don’t want to offend anyone.

I don’t have a picture of the actual performance but a bunch of people in Anime Kigurumis (the person above was included in the performance) paraded around the stage, and actually creeped me out a little.
Selia was the host for the night, and he was certainly workin’ his outfit – so jealous! It was a shame that he didn’t sing as my friend is a big fan of his music, but he kept us entertained nonetheless.
These guys messed around and then with a little bit of a not-so-quick costume change the headless man turned into…

…this girl!
I really loved her, she was so energetic and she pulled the craziest faces. She later did some stunts with the guy in the left corner.
This guy was actually amazing. He gave us a few twirls of his outfit and then proceeded to slide out of it. Ok I wasn’t too keen on the thong-only undergarments he was sporting but his snake-like movements and contortion made me forget about that.
He crawled off the stage and into the crowd, which was great as I was stood right at the front. I think my friends and I really had the best positions.

This ‘character’ did a little piece by himself and was later joined by the people in Anime Kigurumis. I didn’t like him at all, I’m not sure why but his outfit freaked me out D:
And FINALLY the main reason that I went to Tokyo Decadance, and something I can tick off my ‘to-do in Japan’ list….

I’ve been a big fan of theirs for several years now so I was really pleased to be able to see them perform. Exo-Chika is even more gorgeous in person and their music is great live. They really gave off a great energy and it seemed like everyone was enjoying their music.
The funny thing is I didn’t notice that many Gals at the event until Aural Vampire came out. Maybe they were just late to the party or we all share the same taste in music. Either way I was pleased to see that a variety of people were there.
I hope all my readers are going to enjoy All Hallows Eve, and I can’t wait to see some Gal inspired Halloween posts!!
What will you all be doing for Halloween?
And what will you be wearing?!

Review: Candy Magic Series – Green Circle Lenses

Candy Magic Series Green G-206 colour contact lenses*
Power/Prescription: 0.00 (plano) ~ -10.00
Lens Usage: Up to 12 months (depending on care)
Base Curve Radius: 8.6mm
Diameter: 14.20mm
Water Content: 38%
I have blue-grey eyes, so the effect may differ on those with darker eyes.

The Candy Magic Natural Series (by EOS) creates a simple, yet effective look for everyday use.
JELLY’s Maichi is the spokeswoman for this series, and she highlights the lenses perfectly with her cute, but sexy demeanour.
Now onto the pictures…
Unless mentioned, all of these were taken early afternoon, in Autumn lighting. I have mentioned which were taken with/without flash.

No flash. No make-up.

No flash. With make-up.

No flash. One in, one out photo.

With flash.

With flash.
I don’t think I looked at my best particularly on this day, but please try to look past the poor make-up/poses ;D
Look:
I was tempted by the name at first and I have to agree that they do live up to the ‘natural’ look. The colour of the contact is a very vibrant green and even though the outer circle may look quite dark in photos that is only because they are close-up shots.
Of course these kind of lenses are not made to make you look particularly ‘doll-like’ and they don’t enlarge them as much as others but I think that is a bonus, as not everyone wants to wear that kind of lens all the time. I paired my lenses with some simple make-up and false lashes to achieve an everyday look.
Feel:
These lenses were particularly comfortable. As I mentioned in my previous post, I often suffer from allergies (eww), which dry my eyes out so I always carry around eye solution when wearing lenses (as advised by my optician). Even so the natural-look series actually felt pretty natural too. I didn’t feel like I was wearing lenses and I was able to wear them for quite a while without feeling like my eyes were dry or that I needed to take the lenses out.
If it is your first time wearing lenses, take it slowly and wear them for only a few hours each day so your eyes will get used to them. I wouldn’t suggest wearing your lenses for too long unless you know it will be ok, and if they get dry just pop some contact lens-friendly eye solution in – never use water!

Thoughts:
I can not stress enough how much I adore these lenses – they are gorgeous. I bought my first pair of lenses around 3-4 years ago and they were green, but I haven’t had a pair since so I had to choose these ones…and I am glad I did!
When I mentioned to friends that I was wearing lenses they were actually quite surprised and admitted that they hadn’t realised – that’s how natural they come across!
The Candy Magic Natural series – green are beautiful and really comfortable to wear. They also blended really well with my natural blue eye colour. I have no complaints about these lenses at all, as you may have guessed ;D

Shokotan in 109…

All the following images are from MMTS clothing line.

Whilst browsing109 today I noticed something that I found quite interesting.

Popular Japanese Idol and blogger Shokotan (Shoko Nakagawa) has opened a pop-up store on 109’s B2F in collaboration with her clothing brand MMTS, which will be open from the 22 Oct 2010 – 31 Jan 2011 – from what I could figure out from the Japanese blog.
When I walked past there were some beautiful ‘congratulations’ bouquets placed outside (this is common for a new store), one of which caught my eye as it was from Tsubasa Masuwaka.
The clothing line itself is very cutesy and has a Valentines High vibe about it. Lots of pinks and pastels, which isn’t particularly my style but I saw maybe a few pieces I could easily work into my everyday look.
The online store says that the majority of the pieces are either sold out, or low in stock so it’s obviously popular right now.
By the way, if you’re not familiar with Shokotan, she is a Japanese idol who has grown popularity over the last few years with her blog, which she updates several times a day about her cats and the other loves in her life. She has even confessed herself to be an Otaku – as she cosplays often and enjoys writing and drawing Manga.

She is also known as a singer, actress and often makes appearances on Japanese TV.

I like the idea that an Otaku who loves Cosplay and Manga now has a pop-up store in 109. Even geeks have to look good too ;D
So please go check out her store if you are in Tokyo and get the time, whether you’re a fan or just curious.

Fianlly, does this surprise you at all?
What do you think of Shokotan opening a store in 109?

Recent coordinates…

Here is a small filler post with some recent coordinates, make-up and nails…

Look at me with my photography skills ;D
Fur Boots: エフエーコレクション, La Foret
Bandage Skirt: H&M
Lace Tights: Miss Selfridge
Bag: Murua
I wore this Mode inspired coord to meet with my two gorgeous Gals Mitsu and Hana. Thanks for a great afternoon ladies, can’t wait to do it again!
I thought I had taken a full shot of this outfit, but I can’t find it.
Sorry!!

Hat: ACZA BONITA, Ikebukuro – Sunshine City
Dress: Pop Girl, Nippori
Bags: Topshop & Murua
Phone charm: Chiara, 109
This is my most recent coordinate that I wore for a trip to 109 with Mitsu. I really liked it and I received a few compliments that day, so maybe other people liked it too?!
However it did also warrant some unwanted attention on the train journey home. Note to self: wear shorts underneath next time!!

Pop Girl is another cheap Gal store. However I personally wouldn’t put it in the same category as Gal Fit (see below).
The majority of clothing in Pop Girl looked cheap (this was my first time to visit), and extremely poor quality. I was also disappointed as they had t-shirts with a blatant Kumatan (W♥C) rip-off design – not impressed!
This dress was the only thing I found that looked of a decent quality/design.

I love that the maxi dresses in Japan are the right length for me…aka SHORT!
Maxi: Gal Fit
Lace Crop top: Gal Fit
Gal Fit is located in Harajuku, Takeshita Dori and has current trends at affordable prices.
It’s not always the best quality but if you’re careful with what you buy I don’t think there’s a problem. I’ve bought a couple of things from there and they have been fine. To be honest sometimes the quality in 109 isn’t even that great, so if you’re on a budget check it out.
Simple coord for heading to the shops – such a glamourous lifestyle I lead XD
Leopard print Cardigan: Forever 21
T-shirt: Delyle
Denim Skirt: Topshop
I wanted to show another simple coord with the same t-shirt…
Hat: ACZA BONITA, Ikebukuro – Sunshine City
T-shirt: Delyle
Leopard print skirt: S.I2.C, 109-2
Leggings: Present

Just some simple eye make-up.
I keep forgetting to take photos of my make-up, sorry!!
I’m not really impressed with how my photos came out here, so I apologise for the quality. I must start taking more pictures of my make-up, that way I can only improve…right?! ;D
The top make-up was just a simple style with eyeliner, mascara and top & bottom lashes.
Bottom style was bronze eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara and top & bottom lashes – I was trying out some new lashes here, and I liked them on but they look kinda weird in this picture o.O

Finally, my nails!
Nails: Donki
Since I am trying to stay on budget until Christmas I decided to invest in some glue-on nails, as opposed to gel or acrylic…which I would have preferred to be honest. However I am kind of glad I did as these will last much longer (if I don’t lose them) and I can take them on and off as I please.
Donki actually had a discount on their nails, so these were around 2,500円 (£19/$31) – much cheaper than visiting a salon. I really liked the simple ethnic vibe and they look really good on too.

Review: Angel Edge Series – Violet Circle Lenses

Angel Colour Edge Series Violet (CM-831) colour contact lenses*
Power/Prescription: 0.00 (plano) ~ -10.00
Lens Usage: Up to 12 months (depending on care)
Base Curve Radius: 8.6mm
Diameter: 14mm
Water Content: 38%
I have blue-grey eyes, so the effect may differ on those with darker eyes.

The Angel Colour edge series is designed with a thicker, darker circle on the edge of the contact. This helps create the ‘bigger eyes’ effect.
Tsubasa Masuwaka has been a long time spokeswoman for Angel Colour and is often sporting their lenses, which I think helps prove just how well you can achieve the ‘Dolly-look’ with these.
Now onto the pictures…
Unless mentioned, all of these were taken late morning, in Autumn lighting. I have mentioned which were taken with/without flash.

No flash. No make-up.

No flash. With make-up.

With flash.

With flash.

No flash. Evening lighting.
The ever popular one in, one out photo.
I wanted to take this picture at the end of the day, so you could see them in a different light. Sorry for the stray bang hairs, and my deteriorating make-up.
Look:
Of course if you’re going for a natural look then you wouldn’t think of considering a pair of purple lenses. However, these ones managed to look more natural than I had expected – which is a good thing because the violet isn’t prominent until you get up-close. This means they’re perfect for an everyday look and I would happily wear them this way.
Even without the flash on my camera, these lenses give the perfect Dolly-look eye. I paired my lenses with some simple make-up and false lashes to achieve a more natural, grown-up eye. However they could easily work with dramatic/colourful eye make-up, which I thought was a big plus.
Feel:
I haven’t worn lenses for a couple of months, so I was expecting them to feel out of place or slightly uncomfortable. However I found that once I had given my eyes a few minutes to adjust they felt very comfortable. Even when my eyes dried out slightly (I suffer from allergies) they weren’t itchy like some others, and just a few drops of solution made them comfortable again for the rest of the day.
Some people worry about the lenses drying your eyes out. Well, as mentioned if you carry around some eye drops you shouldn’t have a problem. If it is your first time wearing lenses, take it slowly and wear them for only a few hours each day so your eyes will get used to them. I wouldn’t suggest wearing your lenses for too long unless you know it will be ok.

Thoughts:
I fell in love with these lenses as soon as I opened the bottle. I have been wanting a pair of violet lenses for a while, and these were so vivid. It also helped that various Gal models have recommended these lenses.
The Angel colour edge series – violet are comfortable, affordable and lovely to wear. They also blended well with my natural eye colour. I thought the overall look of the lenses when worn was gorgeous, and apart from wanting them a little bit brighter I have no complaints.

From Tokyo with Love [1]

I thought I would give my new mini-series (that I talked about here) a name. So welcome to….
‘From Tokyo with Love’– original, right? ;D
As often as I can, I plan to make filler posts during the week and between my larger posts. These will feature pictures from Tokyo, mainly Gal related but sometimes not – I can’t go a year in Tokyo without showing you guys something other than Gals, clothes and shops XD
For the first post in the series, I took a few shots when I made a quick stop to Shibuya 109 this week.
An advertisement for Vivi’s 109 book.
A couple of girls being interviewed.
It’s not out of the ordinary to see camera crews in Shibuya.
AYU x JELLY are featured on 109’s store-front right now.

Some interesting English outside TWISTY in 109.
In terms of Engrish, I think this is a pretty decent attempt – they just need spell check ;D
Chinatsu Wakatsuki promoting Diamond Lash (eyelashes) on 109’s top floor.
You’re encouraged to take your photo here!
W♥C need to get their new stock in!!
My friend was converted by this ad…well she wanted the jumper.
Stopped by the SBY cafe for a crepe.
The side window is decorated with photos of EGG models and…
…random Gal’s purikura.
– I don’t mind posting this (in terms of privacy) as you can’t see anyone’s face properly –
Last months issue of HAPPIE NUTS dispels the ‘red lipstick’ myth.
Finally a ‘happy’ note from the SBY Gals ;D

Review: CANMAKE Powder Cheeks Blush

I haven’t done a review in a while and after Hana persuaded me to try the CANMAKE Powder Cheeks blush range I thought this was the perfect opportunity.
To start with I’d like to explain why I’m reviewing this blush.
CANMAKE is an affordable (around £4/$6 for powder cheeks) and popular brand.
Not only that but it is easily accessible even for those living outside of Japan; Yesstyle (I can’t visit the site from Japan!? D:) and Ichibankao sell their products, as do many other sites.
To be honest I was really surprised that the majority of sites are selling it for double the price, which is a shame. However I think Yesstyle tends to stay true to the original prices. I’d appreciate it if someone could confirm this for me – Thanks to Michiko who confirmed that YS are actually selling it for around $15 :O
So apart from being affordable and accessible, why did I choose it?
I’m sure you’ve noticed that one Summer trend this year was big pink cheeks. I had seen several models working the look and a few Gals on the street. But it wasn’t until I started attending university that I realised how popular it was, with almost every Gal sporting the look – my university has quite a high percentage of Gals by the way.
So after some tempting from Hana, various magazines and the fabulous examples of Gals on the streets I decided to have a go myself.
So onto the review…

I bought Canmake’s pw20 – lollipop pink blush.
The powder cheeks collection comes in a variety of orange and pink shades. I was a little hesitant to go all out so I choose something inbetween the pale pink I currently use and the bright pink some Gals prefer.
The blush itself has a slight glitter effect to it, which I’m not usually a fan of. However I think it lends a little femininity and softness to the shade, which I quite liked after trying it on.
The colour is perfect for a girly/dolly look, so if you’re planning something brighter you may want to choose a darker shade.

Left; Without blush
Right; With Canmake’s powder cheeks blush
The application of the blush can be a plus or a minus point, depending on your make-up preferences; I personally like the application. It comes with its own small brush, which is perfect for making defined sweeps but you could always use a bigger brush for something a little more dramatic.
It did take quite a few applications of the blush to achieve the colour shown in the right hand picture – but this was a plus for me, as it means I can also use it as a simple blush for everyday use when I choose to.
However I feel like it could be a little more prominent for the look I was aiming for, so I plan to use a bigger brush and more blush next time ;D
Oh and for those of you who worry about removing your make-up after a long day….it came off easily!

I really like the Canmake Powder Cheeks collection. The price was definitely a contributing factor to this (that and the brands popularity) as I won’t always be able to throw money away on high-brand products. Not only that but the blush itself was good quality and the presentation was also very cute.

This was my first product from the CANMAKE range and it has tempted me to buy more from their line. So if you can get your hands on this blush, I would highly recommend it.
