OOTD: A Magical Journey

Shawl* – Oasap | T-shirt* – Oasap | Leggings – H&M | Boots – Topshop | Necklace – Topshop | Sunglasses* – Ray-Ban
This bank holiday weekend I headed back
to my parent’s house in Norfolk, for some rest and relaxation. London is
wonderful but sometimes you end up missing the vast fields of the
English countryside. I may have grown up in a city (Norwich) but we
were only ever a 10 minute drive from the countryside. So whilst we
had a change of scenery, I wanted to take the opportunity and shoot
some outfit photos.

I love it when a piece of clothing is
so powerful that you take on a whole new identity when you’re wearing
it; and my new shawl from Oasap does just that. When I’m wearing this
I feel halfway between a witch and a New York landlady – don’t ask.
It’s a pretty magical piece, that I can easily see becoming a Summer
staple in my wardrobe. As for the t-shirt I’ve displayed so brazenly
above, it was a rather odd purchase for me. I wanted something basic
with a difference. I guess I certainly got that. This is truly the mullet
of the t-shirt world – work up front, party in the back. The
cut-out design is meant to resemble angel wings, as no doubt it would have…on someone who is about 5 inches taller than me. Instead they
end up looking like I’ve tried the paper snowflake trick on my
t-shirt. But hey, you can’t blame a girl for trying. I kept it simple on my bottom half, with black leggings and boots. Boots and leggings that
ended up covered in mud, after my Black Labrador decided I didn’t
quite scream countryside chic.
Don’t forget you can get 20% off with code ‘bloomzy’ when you visit Oasap!

OOTD: A Whole New World

Dress: Topshop | Boots – Topshop | Necklace – Tatty Devine | Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs
What do you do when you’re wandering
around London (Marylebone to be precise) and you find yourself on a
street with little to few cars, and no one around? You take outfit
photos of course! Every fashion blogger will know the joys of trying
to find the perfect location for those crucial outfit shots. So when
you come upon a little gem like V.A and I did, you know you have to
grasp the opportunity, or should I say DSLR, with both hands.
The weather has taken a turn for the
worse over the last few days, so I’ve brought out my trusty boots and
black tights combo again (I always get a little nostalgic for tights
during the Summer)
. I paired them with my Topshop map print shift
dress because I knew V.A and I would be doing a lot of eating (that’s
how we roll)
and I needed something comfortable (read: to hide my
food baby in)
. This dress is the perfect amount of baggy, one size up
and I’d be looking like a potato in a sack. The print is simple yet
intriguing. Basically, I love this dress. I paired it with my Tatty
Devine tiger necklace, because it just seemed to go with the whole
vibe.
We later headed to the South Beach
Summer Event, which I can’t wait to share with you all in an upcoming
post. Suffice to say the dress did it’s job well, because after a hot
dog and 2 milkshake cocktails, I was still feeling pretty classy.

OOTD: Little Paris in London

Blazer – H&M | Top – Zara | Leggings – H&M | Necklace – Topshop

This Summer I plan to make a big change in my wardrobe. That isn’t exactly something I declare every day so it may sound a bit odd. This past weekend I re-read Parisian Chic: A Style Guide by Ines de la Fressange. Whereas I don’t agree with everything, I do love her take on the classic Parisian style. It got me thinking about my own style and how I was in love with Ines’s offerings. So this Summer I plan to do a little style overhaul…well, in a way.
I envy those who wear basics like they’re something fantastical. I want to be one of those women who walks down the streets of Paris, wearing H&M as if it were Chanel. Convincing those around her that they’ve put hours of effort in to look chic, when in reality all she had to do was grab a shirt and a pair of tailored trousers from her minimalist wardrobe. My wardrobe will consist of a few key pieces that will work well together (or by themselves), with minimal accessories to match. It isn’t about being specifically on-trend, nor do I believe that you need a wardrobe overflowing with items. Quality over quantity, after all. However that doesn’t mean that I need to spend all of my income on the latest it-bag from Louis Vuitton, or the latest pair of flats from Charlotte Olympia. I’d rather have people wonder where my clothes are from, and where they can buy them for themselves. So since I look up to women with an effortless ability to pair basics (a la Rumi Neely & Audrey Hepburn), I plan to bring out the casual chic part of my personal style even more.
Hopefully I’ll be able to wow a few people myself.

OOTD: Floral Fancy

Jacket – Primark | Shirt – Primark | Shorts – Levi | Boots – Topshop | Necklace – Topshop

So the weather has been here and there lately but I’m staying optimistic. I’ve been wearing a lot less black, which as you all know is a big achievement for me. I’ve also been trying to take more photos outside, in surroundings other than a white wall. I’m enjoying finding new places to take my photos, I’m sure you spotted that though.
This outfit was supposed to be an easy solution to the mixed message the weather was sending me. The shirt and shorts were supposed to compliment the lovely warm sunshine we’ve been having. Whereas the tights and ‘leather’ jacket were a practical answer to the cold wind that won’t go away. I still liked the combo and that my hair matched the flowers on my shirt – it’s the little things.

Wish List: White’s Alright

White's Alright
White is a colour that I don’t let into my wardrobe easily. It’s far too pristine for someone who’d drop spaghetti sauce on it in an instant. – aka me. Still, this season I can’t help but find myself considering giving white a chance. If the likes of Ena Matsumoto and Alexa Chung are working it, why can’t I? So I chose some of my top white items out right now:
In fact I kind of want this outfit on me, right now! I can definitely see myself walking to Shoreditch on a sunny day, wearing it. Anyone fancy bringing Christmas to me a little earlier this year?

HAUL: Voucher Codes Blogger Swap Shop ’14

So this is a rather odd haul post, as I didn’t actually pay for any of this stuff.
Wait! What? How? Yep, these are the beauties I picked up at the swap shop I went to. I kind of just grabbed everything that looked nice and was in a size I thought might fit. Well I was lucky because these items are gorgeous and I’m so happy with my mini haul.
What did I get? I managed to grab two dresses, a pair of trousers, a t-shirt, a shirt and a hat. Although I’m not bothered whether something is branded, it’s nice to know what you’re getting. This little collection of items are from ASOS, Topshop, H&M, Dorothy Perkins and River Island. Those are all tried and tested brands that I know and love, and have bought stuff from in the past. I’ve already worn the ASOS smock dress and H&M hat, because I couldn’t wait!
I’m so happy with everything I swapped at the event, it was such a great idea! I’m really interested to know if anyone got any of my items and is now workin’ them. If you happen to read my post and did attend the event, link me to your haul post!
The items that didn’t get picked up at the end of the night were donated to charity.
