A Christmas Wish List

Christmas Wishlist

Long sleeve velvet dress, $62 / Velvet skirt / Topshop , $48 / Studded ballet flat, $35 / MICHAEL Michael Kors leather tote bag, $270 /
Christmas is coming, and you know what that means.
Yep, it’s time for another ‘Christmas Wishlist’ post, sorry guys.
I wasn’t actually thinking of doing one this year but then a friend and the fiancé specifically asked for one, so…I guess you could say that I’m leaning more towards accessories and clothing right now.
There’s the odd bit of homeware thrown in but what surprised me most was the lack of beauty products.
Honestly I couldn’t think of anything beauty related that I REALLY wanted, so I just didn’t bother with it.
Right now I’m just after lots of velvet clothing (and shoes!) and some amazing accents to go with.

The usual offenders are there: Topshop, Marc Jacobs, Regal Rose and Tatty Devine.
I know the MK bag is a bit of a long shot, but hey this is a wish list, and a girl’s allowed to dream.

Style: Staying Stylish & Cozy

(Sweater: Oasap*, Leggings: Oasap*, Shoes: Primark, Bag: Topshop, Necklace: Wavy Jewellery)

This Winter I’ve rediscovered my love for big chunky sweaters.
I feel the cold easily so I’m constantly trying to stay warm but stylish when choosing an outfit.
It isn’t always so easy, but luckily there are plenty of cozy sweaters out there this season to help.
The bat-wing sweater above is from Oasap and has an irregular hem, which makes it stand out from regular sweaters. I wouldn’t usually pair a sweater and leggings but luckily due to the irregular hem and length it means it’s longer at the back and I don’t have to worry about showing off my bottom in leggings (a style peeve of mine). The leggings are mixed material (faux leather front & fabric back), which creates a contrast and tricks the eye into making your legs appear skinnier – always a plus! When I wore the two together I chose to pair the them with a simple leather bag and some studded slipper shoes to keep the comfy vibe going.
I wore this out at the weekend and I am in love with the feel of this sweater, it is so soft and cozy.
I often find that a lot of sweaters made with this material make me itch, but this wasn’t the case here.
I managed to stay warm but also felt quite stylish, in an understated way – let’s hope onlookers felt the same.

OOTD: Love the [faux] leather!

(Jacket: Primark, Scarf: Miss Selfridge, Top: Topshop, Jeans: Primark, Shoes: Primark)

As you can see I’ve been layering up now that Winter is here.
It feels like we went right from Summer to Winter and skipped Autumn.
Anyway, I enjoy layering clothes and big comfy scarves, so I don’t really mind.
My new faux leather jacket from Primark is one of my favourite latest additions to my wardrobe.
I know that I’m going to need to wear something warmer now so this allows me to layer without a coat.
I’ve been enjoying staying comfy and still feeling fashionable, and I think that’s going to be my ‘thing’ this Winter.
The new slipper shoes I grabbed from Primark were to replace another pair of flats that died on me.
They’re comfortable and I like the stud detail but I wouldn’t suggest wearing them without socks.
I tried to but my feet felt like they were going to drop off – I’m not impressed English weather!

Style: Playing with Fashion

(Top: Oasap*, High Waisted Shorts: eBay, Creepers: Oasap* Hat: Topshop)

(Top: Oasap*, Skirt: H&M, Wedges: Internacionale, Handbag: Off Brand)

Recently I received a couple of new tops and straight away I started thinking about how to coordinate them.
I love seeing a selection of items laid out to create an outfit, so I though I might try and give it a go myself.
I decided to create 2 very simple but fashionable looks – one is more of a rock look, the other more feminine.
Look #1
Lately I love pairing baggy stylish t-shirts with my rugged vintage high waist shorts.
I decided to go for a fashionably grunge (in the loosest sense) look, using my creepers and mini roller hat.
This just seems like a very casual and easy look to re-create, but still individual and memorable.
I’d accessorise with: a chunky gold chain and plenty of rings!
Look #2
I love monochrome looks, so this was my inspiration for this outfit.
Keeping in with this seasons leather trend, I paired a simple silk top with a pleated faux leather skirt.
To top it off I picked my favourite wedges and a white & gold quilted handbag; cute and feminine.
I’d accessorise with: a delicate necklace & bracelet, and big earrings!
I could easily have seen myself wearing either of these outfits to London fashion week.
Would they have garnered attention? I don’t know, but I do know that I’d have felt fabulous!

OOTD: Autumn is here!

(Coat: from Taiwan, Top: Topshop, Shorts: eBay, Shoes: Internacionale, Accessories: Marc Jacobs & eBay)

I think this is probably the first time I’ve been seen in a coat on OOTD?!
Well unfortunately the weather has called for it in the last few days – Autumn is here already!
That’s ok though as there are some fabulous coats, jackets and cardigans out this season and I love layering.
I guess when I put this outfit together I wasn’t too sure what the weather would be like.
Shorts & tight combos are a saviour in A/W though so I knew I couldn’t lose by choosing them.
Lately I’ve fallen for simple outfits with one main point of focus – for me that’s this belt.
I also like the idea of investing in a few key items, which you can work into various looks.
I definitely think I’ll be doing that with this belt as it’s so versatile, and screams out ‘fashion!’ to me.
I’m hoping this post will mark the re-posting of my OOTD posts.
I kind of paused for a little while, for no reason in particular – oh well!

Topshop Mini Haul – Keeping it British

A few purchases from Topshop that I made recently

Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive a giftcard for Topshop, and guess what?
Yep, I pretty much spent it within an hour of being given it – shame on me! Actually there have been a few things I’ve wanted to purchase from Topshop recently, but managed to resist. You can imagine that this giftcard was a very welcome addition to my purse…even if it didn’t stay there for too long.
So what did I buy?
I’ve had my eye on the Jersey Skirt for a few weeks, after trying it on and posting this photo on Instagram.
It’s a perfectly simple yet essential addition to my wardrobe this A/W, and I’m sure I’ll have fun coordinating it.
The pork pie hat is a welcome addition to my hat collection, and it feels quite British – don’t you think?
As for the studded phone case…well I’m not even sure if it will fit my iPhone 4 but I liked the look of it and…studs!!
Have you treated yourself/been treated recently?

Trend: Rock the ‘Baroque’ for A/W 2012

Rock the Baroque

Rock the Baroque by bloomzy

Wow, now that’s an intimidating image, isn’t it?
Don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you that the latest trend is to wear everything in one print and clash as much as possible.
I am going to write about one of A/W 2012’s latest trends though, and it’s one of my favourites.

Baroque certainly isn’t anything new, in fact that’s the point; inspired by the Rococo movement, the Baroque trend is all about decadence and opulence. Designers such as Dolce & Gabanna, Versace, Givenchy and Balmain have inspired the high street to join in on the fun – in fact, everyone wants in on the Baroque trend.

When done right, Baroque can make a high street outfit look like it’s just come off the catwalk.
When it’s done wrong, well…let’s not try to think about that.

Key points to remember?
– Embellishments
– Black & Gold
– ‘Scarf print’
– Brocades, texture & embroidery
– Lace, ruffles, velvet & metallics

This is a trend that is going to be super easy to find on the high street.
River Island are paying homage to the trend amazingly, whilst stores such as ASOS, H&M,
M&S and Topshop are also doing pretty good jobs.

Good luck and have fun!
