OOTD: Autumn is here!

(Coat: from Taiwan, Top: Topshop, Shorts: eBay, Shoes: Internacionale, Accessories: Marc Jacobs & eBay)

I think this is probably the first time I’ve been seen in a coat on OOTD?!
Well unfortunately the weather has called for it in the last few days – Autumn is here already!
That’s ok though as there are some fabulous coats, jackets and cardigans out this season and I love layering.
I guess when I put this outfit together I wasn’t too sure what the weather would be like.
Shorts & tight combos are a saviour in A/W though so I knew I couldn’t lose by choosing them.
Lately I’ve fallen for simple outfits with one main point of focus – for me that’s this belt.
I also like the idea of investing in a few key items, which you can work into various looks.
I definitely think I’ll be doing that with this belt as it’s so versatile, and screams out ‘fashion!’ to me.
I’m hoping this post will mark the re-posting of my OOTD posts.
I kind of paused for a little while, for no reason in particular – oh well!

Topshop Mini Haul – Keeping it British

A few purchases from Topshop that I made recently

Yesterday I was lucky enough to receive a giftcard for Topshop, and guess what?
Yep, I pretty much spent it within an hour of being given it – shame on me! Actually there have been a few things I’ve wanted to purchase from Topshop recently, but managed to resist. You can imagine that this giftcard was a very welcome addition to my purse…even if it didn’t stay there for too long.
So what did I buy?
I’ve had my eye on the Jersey Skirt for a few weeks, after trying it on and posting this photo on Instagram.
It’s a perfectly simple yet essential addition to my wardrobe this A/W, and I’m sure I’ll have fun coordinating it.
The pork pie hat is a welcome addition to my hat collection, and it feels quite British – don’t you think?
As for the studded phone case…well I’m not even sure if it will fit my iPhone 4 but I liked the look of it and…studs!!
Have you treated yourself/been treated recently?

Style: 1 Skirt 4 Ways

As soon as I pick up a potential clothing purchase I automatically start contemplating outfits.
A few days ago I bought a new waterfall skirt (it sounds dreamier than dip-hem), and that’s what I did.
It’s no wonder I’m such a fan of things like Polyvore and putting together coordinates in photoshop.
Therefore today’s post is a little bit of fun for me and hopefully helpful to a few people also.
I put together 4 separate outfits, all using the same skirt as the central piece.
My style varies a lot between trends and fashion ‘labels’ and I think that’s reflected here.
I managed to add a few Baroque pieces, and the outfits range from casual to slightly more formal.
I also wanted to think a little bit about accessories, make-up and nails – as I know I dress those to match.
I think the outfits themselves though are pretty self-explanatory so I won’t ramble on too much.
The skirt featured is from Topshop, and the items included are from various other High Street stores.
Please comment if you’d like to know where any of the items are from.
‘1 ___ 4 Ways’ is something I’d like to continue with.

Trend: Rock the ‘Baroque’ for A/W 2012

Rock the Baroque

Rock the Baroque by bloomzy

Wow, now that’s an intimidating image, isn’t it?
Don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you that the latest trend is to wear everything in one print and clash as much as possible.
I am going to write about one of A/W 2012’s latest trends though, and it’s one of my favourites.

Baroque certainly isn’t anything new, in fact that’s the point; inspired by the Rococo movement, the Baroque trend is all about decadence and opulence. Designers such as Dolce & Gabanna, Versace, Givenchy and Balmain have inspired the high street to join in on the fun – in fact, everyone wants in on the Baroque trend.

When done right, Baroque can make a high street outfit look like it’s just come off the catwalk.
When it’s done wrong, well…let’s not try to think about that.

Key points to remember?
– Embellishments
– Black & Gold
– ‘Scarf print’
– Brocades, texture & embroidery
– Lace, ruffles, velvet & metallics

This is a trend that is going to be super easy to find on the high street.
River Island are paying homage to the trend amazingly, whilst stores such as ASOS, H&M,
M&S and Topshop are also doing pretty good jobs.

Good luck and have fun!

OOTD: Denim Lady

(Denim Shirt: Primark, Dress: Topshop, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Accessories: Topshop & Urban Outfitters)

On Saturday I went for coffee and brunch with my younger sister, and then to a surprise party.
Since one of the events was casual, and the other a bit more dressy, I decided to put together an outfit that would fit both occassions but not look odd at either. Well, I think I accomplished that – I wore my tiered lace dress (dressy) and paired it with a denim shirt (casual), and some hipster-esque accessories.
I hope you’re enjoying the more ‘commercial’ photo on the left.
I picked up some delicious special bread from the deli (thanks Toni & Gaby) and had to pose with it.
I know, I know, don’t give up the day job – the bread may outshine me but it had to be done.
Also, as a bonus – a make-up shot!
I don’t often include them but I also wanted to show off the earrings a bit more.
A few people on Instagram shared their love for them – they’re from Urban Outfitters.

OOTD: Holiday in Provence, France 2

(T-shirt, Shorts & Sandals: Topshop, Bag: Primark, Necklace: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Sunglasses: New Look)

Here is the second helping of my outfit shots from my recent holiday.
This time taken in a wonderful small village in the mountains, outside a lovely restaurant we actually ended up going to a few days later. I loved the look of the place so I wanted to do a quick outfit shot in front of it.
Obviously this was a casual outfit, just something comfortable for a day of walking, browsing markets and sipping on decafe espressos. I wore my favourite grey t-shirt…ok I only have one, but if I did have more this would be my favourite because the material is wonderfully comfortable, soft and light. I also paired it with my Marc by Marc Jacobs wishbone necklace, which is just the right amount of ‘rock’ without taking too much from the outfit.
I look so teeny-tiny on these photos, and as much as I would like to think it’s a combination of the slope I’m standing on and the fiance’s height, lets just face it, I’m a shorty.

Apologies for the quality of the above photos, these were taken on my iPhone not camera.

OOTD: Holiday in Provence, France 1

(Blouse: Glamorous*, Jeans: Primark, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Bracelet: Marc by Marc Jacobs)

I’m back from my holiday in Provence, in the South of France and I thought I would make a comeback with an ‘outfit of the day’ post. Unfortunately I didn’t take as many outfit shots as I had wished, but I did take a few so I will slowly update with them over the next week or so.
This outfit was for an evening meal at a lovely restaurant we visited last time we were there.
Luckily in the evenings the temperature was slightly more bearable, so I was able to wear jeans.
Even then it was around 32c, which was surprising – maybe I slowly acclimatised, I don’t know.
The blouse is from Glamorous. It’s such a fine material that it was perfect in the heat.
I did pop a white vest top on underneath though as it is very sheer. I just wanted something casual-formal, so I paired it with the jeans and my gold panther court heels, which added a little bit of a flare to it…at least I thought so.
