Review; Harrods Glossybox

Glossybox The Harrods Edition

You probably remember my post about the Harrods edition of Glossybox this month.
Well I received my box yesterday, and to be honest I was a little worried as lots of people had been complaining.
Why? Well they felt that they didn’t receive a box worthy enough to be ‘The Harrods Edition’ and in some cases I do understand and sympathise with those people as it did seem like they may have gotten the short end of the straw.
Me?! Well I am actually very happy with my box. I received the 3 items I had really been hoping for!

I received:
+ Narciso Rodriguez – For Her Eau de Parfum
+ Molton Brown – Heavenly Ginger-Lily Moisture Bath & Shower
+ Yves Saint Laurent – Forever Youth Liberator Serum
+ Burberry Beauty – Miniature Lip Cover #4 Rosewood
+ Clarins – Extra-Firming Body Cream

I had really been hoping for the YSL, Burberry and Clarins items.
I wanted the YSL for my mum actually, as it’s aimed at older women so I don’t need it right now.
I will however be doing reviews of the Burberry lipstick and Clarins cream.
As for the rest, well I already have the exact Molton Brown shower gel at home, but this will be good for travelling and I do adore perfume samples as they get placed in my handbag for when I’m out and about, or travelling.

All in all I think I was very lucky with my box.
Next month will be my first ‘regular’ Glossybox so I’m looking forward to it!
For those in the States, Glossybox is coming to you soon too – click here.

Juicy Couture x Fifi Lapin Collaboration

Juicy Couture & Fifi Lapin Collaboration

I’m not really a Juicy Couture fan but when I heard of their recent collaboration with Fifi Lapin I was excited!
Why? Because I love Fifi and I am hoping that this collaboration will mean even more coverage for ‘the brand’.
I recently ordered a Fifi Lapin item to add to my collection, and I’d love to see more, instores and online!
I would also love to add the above scarf to my collection, and maybe the sketchbook & keychain but realistically the prices aren’t something I’m willing to pay for a brand that I’m not such a fan of (JC).
If they went on sale though I would snatch them up in an instant!
Who is Fifi Lapin?
She is a chic, socialite rabbit who is often sketched wearing the latest designer collections.
She also offers lifestyle and fashion advice on her blog, which you can view here.

Would you like to know more about Fifi?

OOTD: I love my blog!

Cardigan: Topshop | Tshirt: A store in Paris | Dress: Topshop | Shoes: Asos

Today’s outfit is brought to you by my disappearing dress-skirt! I very much dislike fabrics/items of clothing that don’t work together, especially when they do something like this. I can’t really wear anything over this dress without it riding up, so I find myself constantly pulling it down.
I really didn’t notice how short it looked until I started editing the photos, promise!
Anyway I wanted to try and pair it with my velvet flatforms from Asos, remember those? I love them so much and they really offset a black outfit well…I should know because I wear a lot of black. It’s a habit I’m desperately trying to break, so maybe these shoes can be a start?! I also wore my “I love my blog!” tshirt, which I bought from a French clothing chain-store in Paris. Shame I don’t remember the name of it!

Review: MUA Love Hearts Lip Balms 1

MUA Love Hearts Lip Balms; Sweet Kiss & Sugar Lips
I decided to split the lip balms up into pairs, so as not to overload you with information and pictures.
In this post I will be reviewing the two pinky shades from the collection: Sweet Kiss & Sugar Lips

Swatch and worn
L-R: Sweet Kiss, Sugar Lips

Pros:
+ Moisturising
+ Good colour
+ Coverage was also good
+ Wears like a lip balm, looks like a gloss.
+ Very yummy vanilla scent to the balms
Cons:
– Packaging is unappealing (to me)
– Can be a bit sticky when applying
Notes:
My photos really don’t do the lip balms justice!
From the swatches you probably wouldn’t think the balms are very pigmented, however once a few coats are applied I found the colour pay-off was great! My lips are quite red naturally, and I often find it difficult when looking for a light pink lip gloss or lipstick that covers completely. So I was very impressed with the colour here.
I really love Sweet Kiss because it made my lips look so plump and gorgeous.
That might sound a bit weird/big-headed but I was so pleased with how they looked whilst wearing it, I can tell that it is going to quickly become a favourite of mine. The only thing I would suggest is that you use a lip brush with these products, as it is a bit sticky on the fingers and it would also make application easier.

I think if you combined these with some similar shaded lipsticks you could get some great results.
I’m definitely going to be experimenting with these two and the pink Jill Stuart lipstick I have.
The MUA Love Hearts Lip Balms are only £2
They can be bought in Superdrug and online here (they also ship internationally).

Life and a weekend in London

Photos taken from my Instagram. Follow me @bloomzy

This week has been pretty uneventful so far.
I spent the beginning of my week stuck in my room, writing a presentation with an injured leg.
My leg is a lot better now, but it’s still pretty painful to walk on/bend, but…life goes one!
Thanks to those who sent their well wishes.
This weekend I shall be in London to meet one of the people I’ve really missed since Tokyo; Mitsu!
I can’t wait to be reunited with my gorgeous gal, and some wonderful friends! I also can’t wait to get back to London!
As you probably guessed, that means I will be away from the blog this weekend (Friday to Monday). I will try to schedule some posts though, and I will also have my phone so I can approve comments, update Twitter etc.
I promise to come back with lots of stories and pictures.

Wish List: ASOS Mexican Rave Collection

ASOS Mexican Rave Collection

Are you beginning to see a bit of a trend with my ‘wishlists‘ lately?
Once again, I have been drooling over a Mexican-inspired collection.
This time it’s asos, and I have to admit that this is probably the best collection I’ve seen yet.
My favourite pieces have to be the tops, with a selection of cuts and loud prints to match.
Although my love for denim hot pants means that their shorts come a close second.
I also know I’d never wear it, but I kinda love the sweat combo (top right).
I love their use of prints. They’ve made sure to keep them appealing, unique and on-point.
Stylish, urban and colourfulI just want to add everything to my wardrobe!
Whatever your personal style I think there’s a little something for everyone.
Prices range from £6 to £250. You can shop the collection here.

Review: Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick, Shade #31

Remember when I admitted to being a red lipstick virgin? Well those days are long gone, and I now have a variety of red lipsticks in my collection. So I wanted to do a small review on my favourite of them all, my Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick, in shade #31; Cambon.

Swatch (click to enlarge)

Pros:
+ Great coverage
+ Easy application
+ Amazing pigmented colour
+ Hydrating formula, so it doesn’t dry lips out
+ The colour lasts for hours, unless you’re drinking/eating
+ Chanel counter staff matched the shade perfectly to my skin tone

Cons:
– Stains ever so slightly
– There’s never enough!!

Notes:
As you can tell from the photos I’ve already got plenty of use out of it…I just wish I had taken pictures when I first bought it. The pros largely out-weigh the cons. The staining on the lips is nothing more than a regular lipsticks, and I don’t mind being left with tinted lips afterwards as it gives a nice healthy look. I usually like to apply a little Chanel ‘Soin Tendre Levres’ (which is a lip care treatment) before I put on my lipsticks, but with this one it’s not really necessary as it’s moisturising in itself. Also, I have found that if I apply Carmex beforehand, it creates a lovely lipgloss-like effect, which you can see in my previous post here. As I also mentioned, the counter staff at Chanel are incredibly helpful and will kindly help you match any of their lipsticks to your skin tone/desired look. I think beauty fanatics know by now that there is a reason why the brand is so popular. I’ve been a fan of Chanel’s lipsticks for years and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good quality, long lasting lipstick which is true to colour.
