Review: MUA Lipstick & Maxfactor Gloss

Last month I reviewed a couple of MUA’s lipsticks and mentioned about trying them out with a gloss.
I decided to try them out with a couple of my favourite go-to glosses, by Maxfactor. These were given to me at Christmas, in a set, by a friend who works as a make-up artist for the brand – the full size versions are a lot bigger. I wanted to
mix up a cheaper brand & a more expensive one – to show you that you don’t always need to spend lots of money to achieve a lovely pout!
To achieve my look I used:
Final Results:
I absolutely adored the look of MUA Shade #16 & Maxfactor Bubbly (photo #3) – it gave me the perfect ‘baby lips’, which a lot of brands have been aiming for with their looks and products lately. The colour is a little more pink-coral in person (trust the iPhone) and it’s the perfect shade for Spring/Summer! I was also happy with MUA Shade #15 & Maxfactor Bubbly (photo #1) which I think created a nice nude look. It would suit a natural look or just something a bit simpler. As for MUA Shade #12 & Maxfactor Majeste (photo #2) – it created a lovely bold lip, for a more dramatic look.

I think Bubbly may have been discontinued, sorry.

Review: Glossybox Burberry Lipstick #4 Rosewood

This is the first review I’m doing for a product from Glossybox.
The Burberry Lipstick (lip cover) was one of the most anticipated items in the Harrods Glossybox.
Hopefully I can shed some light on this infamous beauty product.

Swatches

Pros:
+ Nice shine.
+ Handbag size.
+ Pigmented Colour.
+ Nice, sweet smell to the lipstick.
+ Didn’t dry out my lips & mildly moisturising.
+ Love the packaging & design on the product!
Cons:
– Poor choice of colour to represent the product.
– I wish the product had been bigger.
Notes
Honestly, I don’t think the lipstick was worth the hype and this is mainly because I don’t feel Glossybox or Harrods did a good enough job in representing Burberry and the product. True, the product does feel ‘luxury’ but to me Burberry are all about classic items for every woman, whilst still remaining fun and on-trend. I don’t think a brown-y red lipstick really promotes that, but maybe I’m wrong. Personally I would have chosen a pink or classic red, as not only is it more appealing but it’s better suited to more skin tones, whilst this colour is not.

That said I do see myself getting good use out of the product.
The colour may not have been my first choice, but it’s highly pigmented and has a nice soft shine.
The product didn’t dry out my lips and whilst I didn’t find it ‘intensely moisturising’ my lips did feel soft.
Would I buy the full size one?
Not in this colour, and as it’s only slightly cheaper (£23) than a Chanel lipstick I might consider it,
if I found a more fitting colour.
Purchase it at Harrods, here.

Gift: Iconemesis Gemma Correll Cat iPhone Case

The amazingly wonderful people at Iconemesis sent me a surprise this week.
They knew I had been after the Gemma Correll Cat Print case for my iPhone, as I’d been gushing about it all over the internet. So when I received a surprise package from them, I couldn’t contain my excitement!
The case is superb quality, as was the Fifi Lapin case I bought from them.
It fits the iPhone 4 very well, and is also easy to remove – for those who might worry.
But it’s the print that I adore. The quality and colour is gorgeous, very true to the photo on the site.
You can purchase the case here, or check out their other cases here.
A cat party will surely lift anyones spirits, no?
Thank you so much Iconemesis!
I am beyond happy with this case!!
Iconemesis are hosting a giveaway in collaboration with Mon Rabu.
It’s open internationally, and ends on 10th April – click here to find out how to enter.

Review: Trilogy Exfoliant & Apricot Face Mask

Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant & My Beauty Diary Southern France Apricot Mask

I decided to review these two items together, as they are both new additions to my skin care routine and
are also two products that compliment each other well.
Trilogy Gentle Facial Exfoliant

I use this twice a week, in the evening after my skin care routine.
I love the texture of the product; it feels a little grainy to touch, but when applied it’s quite satisfying to feel the Jojoba wax spheres work their magic on your skin, as you massage the treatment in.
It leaves a pleasant smell on your skin, which reminds me a bit of oats.
After several weeks of use, I would definitely say my skin is feeling smoother and more radiant. A little goes a long way with this product, so I think it will last me for quite a while. My only criticism would be that it dried my skin out a little, but I wouldn’t suggest using an exfoliant without a moisturiser of some kind anyway.

I’ve only been using these for a week, but so far so good.
These are sheet masks that cover your whole face. You leave the mask on for about 20-30mins, and just sit back and relax. The masks are incredibly cool and really are relaxing to wear, and smell amazing! Afterwards it’s best to massage in any remaining serum. I use this after I have exfoliated and I must say the moisturising effect is amazing. My skin felt so supple and soft after only the first use, which surprised me as I don’t usually expect to see a difference straight away with most skin care products. This mask is suitable for normal to dry / combination skin.
No criticisms really, except that the mask is pretty big so you will need to make sure it is securely on.
Finally, here’s a scary picture of me in my mask after exfoliating:

Iconemesis; Fifi Lapin iPhone Case

Fifi is such a sassy fashionista! Do you remember the post I made introducing Fifi Lapin? Well since then the item I ordered arrived! I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted a Fifi Fawn iPhone case. So I did a google, and up popped iconemesis; an online store that combines artwork and iPhone cases. The artwork featured is amazing, and I must admit that I wanted to buy all of the cases! Instead I settled for just one, this Fifi Fawn case.

There was a bit of trouble with my order, as the case I received didn’t quite match the image on the site. So I contacted the lovely staff at iconemesis and they kindly sent me out another. The reason behind the confusion was that they have a new template for this particular phone, and the site hasn’t been updated with the new image yet. There’s not much difference, the new image is just a bit smaller. Here is a photo of the case I was originally sent.

The customer service I received was brilliant. I even received emails (keeping me up-to-date) way out of office hours. I really appreciated the efficiency (it was made and sent the next day) and kindness of the staff. I would definitely order from them again! Now I just need to decide which case…

On Tuesday I received my first Graze box. I was very impressed and pleased with what I got, as all the items looked and tasted delicious! A handy booklet with all the nutritional and dietary information was included, which I found very useful as I am starting up a healthy diet regime again, after spending the last month eating anything and everything. I had intended to only try out the free box, but I’ve fallen in love with the selections and to be honest I think it will help improve my eating habits, as it means I have natural, delicious, good food at hand. So I plan to continue my subscription, especially as it’s so cheap.

Review; Harrods Glossybox

Glossybox The Harrods Edition

You probably remember my post about the Harrods edition of Glossybox this month.
Well I received my box yesterday, and to be honest I was a little worried as lots of people had been complaining.
Why? Well they felt that they didn’t receive a box worthy enough to be ‘The Harrods Edition’ and in some cases I do understand and sympathise with those people as it did seem like they may have gotten the short end of the straw.
Me?! Well I am actually very happy with my box. I received the 3 items I had really been hoping for!

I received:
+ Narciso Rodriguez – For Her Eau de Parfum
+ Molton Brown – Heavenly Ginger-Lily Moisture Bath & Shower
+ Yves Saint Laurent – Forever Youth Liberator Serum
+ Burberry Beauty – Miniature Lip Cover #4 Rosewood
+ Clarins – Extra-Firming Body Cream

I had really been hoping for the YSL, Burberry and Clarins items.
I wanted the YSL for my mum actually, as it’s aimed at older women so I don’t need it right now.
I will however be doing reviews of the Burberry lipstick and Clarins cream.
As for the rest, well I already have the exact Molton Brown shower gel at home, but this will be good for travelling and I do adore perfume samples as they get placed in my handbag for when I’m out and about, or travelling.

All in all I think I was very lucky with my box.
Next month will be my first ‘regular’ Glossybox so I’m looking forward to it!
For those in the States, Glossybox is coming to you soon too – click here.
