Wish List: ASOS Mexican Rave Collection

ASOS Mexican Rave Collection

Are you beginning to see a bit of a trend with my ‘wishlists‘ lately?
Once again, I have been drooling over a Mexican-inspired collection.
This time it’s asos, and I have to admit that this is probably the best collection I’ve seen yet.
My favourite pieces have to be the tops, with a selection of cuts and loud prints to match.
Although my love for denim hot pants means that their shorts come a close second.
I also know I’d never wear it, but I kinda love the sweat combo (top right).
I love their use of prints. They’ve made sure to keep them appealing, unique and on-point.
Stylish, urban and colourfulI just want to add everything to my wardrobe!
Whatever your personal style I think there’s a little something for everyone.
Prices range from £6 to £250. You can shop the collection here.

A Source of Inspiration

You can find me on Tumblr, here
I feel you can usually read my current style from what’s on my Tumblr.
Ever since I started my Tumblr it has been a place for me to store & share my loves & inspirations.
I don’t do it for followers, although I adore the ones I do have, I do it for me.
Simply put, it’s a visual fashion/lifestyle diary, and I love it.
Where do you store your inspiration?

My Style Evolution

Tokyo 2010/11 – Paris 2011 – England 2011/12

My Style Evolution is something I have been wanting to write about for a while.
I think it’s obvious from this blog, and my pictures that during the past 2 years my personal style has changed quite a bit. When I thought about it, I realised that is could easily be attributed to time, place and culture – see, I did listen in Sociology!
Tokyo 2010/11
My year7 months studying in Tokyo were a major influence on my personal style.
At that point I had been interested in Japanese fashion, mainly「ギャル」fashion for a while, so of course it seemed only fitting that my main source of inspiration during my stay in Japan was ‘Gal fashion’. During this time I only bought clothing from Japanese brands, dyed my hair often and even bleached it.
Paris 2011
When I first arrived in Paris I was still heavily influenced by ‘Gal’. I had always loved European fashion, and being somewhere as wonderfully fitting as Paris saw my style evolve a little more. I took less inspiration from Gal and began to take it from the women and city of Paris.
England 2011/12
Moving back to England meant I had some time to relax and contemplate the last few years, and my own personal style; it had really changed a lot. I no longer felt such an affinity with Gal, and it didn’t inspire me as it used to.
Instead I took inspiration from Western fashion magazines, as well as Japanese. I began shopping primarily in places such as Topshop and H&M. I finally set on a hair colour and style that I loved; which has stayed with me for the past 7 months.

So where am I now?
I’m in a very comfortable place. My style is my own!
Once again I look forward to putting an outfit together, or reading about the latest trends in Western and Japanese fashion. It’s true that I don’t ‘follow’ Gal anymore, but I still have a love for Japanese brands and street-style, and I think it will always be a source of inspiration to me. As it has been in the past, my style can’t really be labelled and I like it that way. It’s a bit of everything that inspires me along the way.

And the blog?
Well that’s changed a lot too, you will certainly be seeing a lot more personal/lifestyle posts, along with the usual beauty product (Western and Japanese) reviews, and of course outfit posts. For those who have stuck with me this long, thank you so much for being a part of my style evolution, and for my new readers I hope you will enjoy what is to come.

Style Crush; Eriko Nakao

Eriko NakaoJapanese blogger and model Eriko Nakao

Eriko is someone I’ve seen pop up on the internet from time to time when browsing fashion sites, but only recently have I been visiting her collaborative blog which she works on alongside her hairstylist and photographer friends (see source). To be honest I’ve also been drooling over her amazing fashion-sense and gorgeous hairI adore her sense of style, it’s very much like my own in that it doesn’t really fall into one definitive category. I love the mixture of street style, simplicity and strong sexuality in her coordinates and the photography.
Eriko is definitely on my ones to watch list.

Murua S/S Collection 2012

 Murua Spring/Summer Collection 2012 – Flower Girl

Murua have been one of my favourite Japanese brands since their debut.
This season doesn’t see my love faltering at all, in fact I think it may have grown a little. Whereas I don’t exactly see the ‘Flower Girl’ concept (lost in translation, maybe?) throughout the entire collection, I do like what they’ve come out with for S/S 2012.
I love how a lot of the pieces can be dressed up or down, which will no doubt appeal to girls who want to spend on their favourite brand but don’t have money to throw about. The use of monochrome, as always, reigns supreme in Murua, although this season we also see the use of pastels…and a lone pair of neon wedges. Murua also jump on the bandwagon with their variation of the always popular creepers, offering a wedge version, which I must have.
The pastel chinos, crop top, washed out denim shirt and 90s style dress are easily found overseas for those who don’t have access to the brand. Topshop and Urban Outfitters being my recommendation.

Instagram Weekly 1

I love how Eki updates once a week with photos from her Instagram.

I think it adds a new twist to the ‘photo diary‘ portion of blogs.
Therefore I decided to take a leaf out of her book, as I realised that not everyone has Instagram, nor do you all follow me on Twitter and sometimes I don’t even post my photos there.

This first post will be a catch-up of my favourite photos from previous weeks, then I shall continue with the weekly updates.

Click ‘read more’ for the full post.

I hope you will enjoy this new weekly feature.
Thank you for the inspiration Eki!

Inspiration; JELLY

I love the model codes that pop-up on the official JELLY English Facebook page.
The behind-the-scenes photographs come a close second.
It certainly looks like motherhood hasn’t changed Maya Mori and Yuki Yamamoto when it comes to personal style. They still look amazing, and I have to say that I think I prefer their style now.
