OOTD: Well kinda…

Lipstick: Chanel | Earrings: Topshop | Ring: Primark
I do apologise, but there won’t be an outfit of the day, today. I fell over in the road, on my way to lecture and I’ve hurt my leg and hip. My knee has also swollen up, so you can probably tell that I’m not really feeling at my best right now.
I did however take this photo of my make-up and jewellery this morning. I really love these earrings by Topshop and my favourite Rouge Coco lipstick, by Chanel. All topped off with an overly decadent ring from Primark.

ASOS Velvet Flatforms & Polka-dot Socks

ASOS; Velvet Flatform Trainers & Polka Dot See-Through Ankle Socks

I first saw these ‘trainers’ about a couple of weeks ago and thought they looked pretty cool. It took me about a week and a half of going back to the asos site and the current flatform trend to finally convince me that I should buy them. I’m so picky when it comes to buying clothes, especially online.I didn’t actually own any trainers before I bought these, and whereas they’re not your conventional type of trainer I am glad I finally bought something to go with the tomboy/rock-side of my style. I have the urge to pair these with my velvet Topshop dress but I fear that would just be too much…and too 90s?! What do you think? The socks (sold out) were just something I saw in the sale. I thought they would be cute to pair with some skirts or shorts when it gets a little warmer. From the looks of today’s weather I may not have to wait long!

Wish List: Tatty Devine S/S 2012 Collection

Tatty Devine S/S 2012

Tatty Devine S/S 2012 by bloomzy

It’s not often that I place an entire collection in my wishlist.
Yet that’s exactly what I found myself doing when I spent the afternoon on Tatty Devine’s website…yes an entire afternoon. The new S/S Collection is inspired by Mexico, and features iconic images such as Frida Kahlo. I couldn’t have asked for more!

My affair with Tatty Devine started about 8 years ago when I stepped foot into their flagship, Brick Lane store. I remember watching the ladies and gents hard at work as I perused through their goods. I bought a pair of frilly, cherry panties, which were expertly wrapped and presented to me in one of their stylish boxes…I never looked back.

My love for South America (namely Mexico) and Frida Kahlo are obviously what drew me to this collection originally. I love the vibrant colours and the use of imagery; sugar skulls, parakeets and flowers. The collection has something for everyone, whether you’re a lover of Mexican culture or not. It truly is bold and beautiful.

Prices range from £20, to £260 for the Posie Garland necklace, which was featured in Vogue.
You can shop the collection here.

Lust for: Urban Outfitters

During my trip to Leeds I stopped by Urban Outfitters, as I always do.
I managed to grab a couple of items that called out to me, whilst avoiding the other 90% of the store that I wanted to buy.
The Gem Stone Stud Earrings were in the sale, and as I don’t often wear studs I decided to give them a go. Photos just can’t do these justice. They sparkle and shine in all the right places. Love them!
Recently I had been eyeing a particular pair of heels by Deena & Ozzy on the online store, which I also bought during my visit. The Black Panther Court Shoes can speak for themselves, gorgeous, no? However after only wearing them for a coffee date, I’ve found a design flaw. The heel has already started to wear down (as you can see in the photos), which worries me, as I’m not too sure whether I will be able to have them re-heeled properly due to the detailing. Apart from that I don’t really have any complaints, although I should mention that since the material is ‘suedette’ they do collect dust and dirt easily.
Do I regret buying them? Hmm…I have bought cheaper heels that have lasted longer. I don’t expect heels to wear down after half an hour of walking BUT I shall try and work out a solution.

OOTD: 90s Throwback

Crop Jumper: Off-brand from Tokyo | Velvet Dress: Topshop | Necklace: Urban Outfitters

Everything about this outfit screams 90’s throwback to me. Maybe it’s because at the time I was growing up in velvet dresses and skirts and my fascination with Ancient Egypt (that’s an Ankh on the necklace) was at its height. That aside, the red lipstick and cropped jumper also feel kinda 1990ish to me. Even though I grew up as a 90s kid I don’t often feel much of an affinity with the era, but wearing this did make me slightly nostalgic.

Making good use of the Macbook Pro and crazy positions – anything to get a photo of my outfit when no one is around to help. Please excuse my messy room.

Karl, by Karl Lagerfeld

Karl, by Karl Lagerfeld Collection

The Karl, by Karl Lagerfeld collection hit NET-A-PORTER on Wednesday afternoon. The exclusive collection includes: clothing, accessories, shoes and bags.

It should be said that this collection is not going to be the same as the creations coming out of Chanel, this is a side project for Karl, so obviously it is separate from the fashion house. They may both share the same man, but that doesn’t mean they’re alike. The collection plays with mixing fabrics together (love this!) such as pvc, cotton, leather and more. You’ll find a wide selection of items ranging from collars, to vest tops, dresses and tote bags, to mention a few.
I’m impressed at the diversity of the pieces, because when I clicked on the site for the launch I was hit by monotone, pvc and leather, which was a little underwhelming. The pieces may look similar but I think any item (or a multitude) could make a great addition to any closet. My favourites are the tshirts, vests and sweaters.
The items are selling out, but not as quickly as I would have thought.
Prices range from £20-£980 – woah! Get in their quickly girls!!

Forgotten pieces…

Forgotten pieces of jewellery that is.
I tend to hang my ‘everyday’ use items on my mirror so the items in my jewellery box sometimes go forgotten. So today I decided to look through it, and I found…
some rings from when I was around 10yo (they never fit then but do now?!),
a giant (fake) gold bug and random necklaces,
crystal earrings & necklace/bracelet set,
a large collection of pearls (most real, others just play things)

I was surprised to see I have about 6 pearl necklaces; a girl should always have a set of pearls handy, but 6? I’m also a little curious as to when I ever thought I would wear an expensive crystal necklace/bracelet set at university. Well, let’s hope something pops up!
